The role: Paralegal, Commercial Team (Open to West Coast Location; Hawaii included)

The individual in this role will be responsible for supporting Slalom’s in-house commercial legal team. This team provides high-touch legal support across Slalom’s various commercial initiatives. Areas of responsibility may include client contracting, compliance with regulatory and legal requirements, internal policy development, and other day-to-day needs.

This role will have the opportunity to work cooperatively with a diverse group of professionals, including the Legal team, other Global Services groups and all levels of Slalom consulting managers and employees, as well as outside partners, customers and vendors to foster Slalom’s dynamic, collaborative and practical culture.

What you'll do:

  • Non-contract or non-traditional legal projects and initiatives on an ad hoc basis.
  • Perform assessments of varying complexities and scope by developing and applying knowledge of applicable laws and business operations
  • Provides front-line legal support, acting as a trusted advisor to various internal business clients
  • Demonstrate the ability and willingness to work under time-sensitive deadlines, increase efficiencies for handling a significant volume of contracts, and be productive in fast-paced environments with multiple competing priorities.
  • Review RFPs, commercial contracts, and other legal documents.
  • Identify compliance, legal, and operational risk areas, and evaluate the level of associated risk
  • Drive internal alignment on timeline and content, preparing and driving escalations to management, administering the negotiation process, and handling internal approvals
  • Assist in the administrative process and maintenance of the team’s internal file systems and workflows Develop a deep understanding of the Slalom’s business, services, respective business models, and customers, as well as the contract landscape with the major customers
  • Maintain open communication and good working relationships with the team and various stakeholders

What you’ll bring:

  • Transactional experience in sophisticated legal environments, with an emphasis on contract review and legal writing
  • BA/BS or Paralegal Certificate
  • High degree of professionalism with demonstrated ability to follow through on commitments while handling multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Interest in working on non-contract or non-traditional legal projects and initiatives on an ad hoc basis.
  • Initiative and ability to be proactive and use mature judgement to take calculated risks within defined boundaries
  • The ability to conduct win-win negotiations and find creative business-oriented solutions to legal issues, balancing legal risks against business interests
  • Proficiency in Japanese is preferred, but not required
  • Strong results orientation with a dedicated client focus and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills with the ability to clearly and concisely express contract issues and analysis, as it pertains to business and legal concerns to management, colleagues and peers
  • Keen business sense, with the capability and willingness to understand not only the legal but also the commercials details

Compensation and Benefits

The targeted range for this position is $100,000 to $120,000. In addition, individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. Actual compensation will depend upon an individual’s skills, experience, qualifications, and location. Please see below for information on Slalom benefits.
