Job Description

Teacher absences result in vast amounts of lost learning time for students, particularly in under-resourced schools. With the pandemic only exacerbating teacher shortages across the country, Kokua is on a mission to help schools expand the pool of teachers available to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of students. Kokua was started in Chicago in 2011 by former teachers and now services nearly 500 schools. We were recognized on the Forbes 30 Under 30 Education list and we have exciting growth plans ahead in the coming years. This is where you come in.


This is an entry level position with a salary range of $35,000-40,000 per year.


YOUR ROLE

Kokua’s Operations Coordinators are passionate about supporting children, have a “whatever it takes” mindset, and are extremely detail oriented and organized. You have a growth mindset, and exceptional interpersonal skills to easily establish rapport and respect with team members. You exhibit a high level of professionalism and grace, and represent Kokua in a reputable way.


YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage data systems

Update dashboards and scorecard data. Efficiently and concisely communicate data across teams. Maintain meticulous records around candidate communication and ensure that 100% of clients receive communication within 24 hours. You are warm, friendly, efficient, and detail oriented.


Create a welcoming environment

You bring a positive energy to the team and inspire those around you through your work and dedication. Respond to questions from new hires in a timely manner. You are responsible for setting a positive tone with guest teachers and school partners. You are charismatic and compelling and have the ability to network and provide the highest levels of customer service.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficiency with Excel, Google Docs
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • 0-2 years of work experience or professional internships
  • Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or equivalent work experience
  • Candidates located in the Houston area preferred
  • At least 1 year of classroom or equivalent education experience
