The Ocean Import Coordinator will be responsible for managing and coordinating the importation of goods via ocean freight, ensuring compliance with customs regulations and delivering exceptional customer service. Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage the import process for ocean freight shipments, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
• Liaise with overseas agents, steamship lines, and customs brokers to obtain necessary documentation and ensure compliance with import regulations.
• Coordinate cargo bookings with ocean carriers, negotiate rates, and monitor shipment schedules for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• Prepare and process shipping documentation, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, and import declarations, in accordance with customs requirements.
• Stay updated on industry trends, import regulations, and best practices related to ocean import operations.
• Collaborate with clients, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure smooth operations and resolve any issues that may arise during the import process.
• Track and trace shipments, providing regular updates to clients and internal stakeholders on shipment status and anticipated arrival dates.
• Coordinate customs clearance activities, including document submission, duty and tax calculations, and resolving any customs-related issues.
• Work closely with warehouse personnel to arrange timely delivery of imported goods to the designated locations.
• Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and requests professionally and promptly, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (preferred) OR equivalent work experience in the logistics industry.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in ocean import operations, preferably in a freight forwarding or logistics company.
• Problem-solving and decision-making abilities to handle issues and provide effective solutions.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
• Proficiency in using shipping software and systems for documentation and tracking purposes.
• Strong knowledge of customs regulations and import compliance requirements.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
• Familiarity with ocean carriers, shipping lines, and freight rates.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in preparing shipping documentation and customs paperwork.
