GateWay Community College is now hiring for two (2) exciting new roles in Nursing Assistant / Practical Nursing Fundamentals. One position is Residential faculty and the other is a Specially Funded position (Please refer to the funding information section). These positions will provide classroom, clinical laboratory and simulation instruction to nursing assistant, medical assistant and practical nursing students from diverse backgrounds using technology, effective interpersonal, leadership and organizational skills. The position will demonstrate a commitment to student academic success. The primary teaching focus will be our Nursing Assistant and the Practical Nurse program. This position may teach in the Registered Nurse and/ or Continuing Education programs. Both roles will participate in online, hybrid, in-person, class, laboratory and clinical settings.

• Facilitates student learning for a diverse population of student in classroom, laboratory, simulation and clinical settings
• Maintains and enhances knowledge of subject matter taught and the individual training skills required to remain current with new trends and developments in nursing through attendance at conferences, seminars, and or workshops; maintains office hours; serves on and participates in department, college and district wide committees and activities
• Maintains office hours to assist and advise students; coordinates and participates in the completion of required program related reports, including the tracking of program enrollment, completion and student success and assessment plans
• Develops written syllabi/course outlines and all course materials; evaluates knowledge of subject matter taught and monitors student’s academic achievement; prepares and grades exams

1. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree plus 3 years of experience as a professional nurse providing direct patient care, or a BSN and a graduate degree and 2 years experience as a professional nurse providing direct patient care, or a graduate degree in nursing and 2 years of experience as a professional nurse providing direct patient care

2. Must hold an Arizona registered nurse license in good standing or multi-state privilege to practice in Arizona by the first day of employment.

3. Must be able to meet health and safety requirements including CPR certification, Fingerprint Clearance Card, and drug testing.

4. Must complete EDU 250 – Teaching and Learning in the Community College or equivalent within two years of date of hire.

• May require lifting objects weighing up to 50lbs
• Possible exposure to blood-borne pathogens and other infectious diseases
• Assignment may extend past the normal academic semesters
• May be required to work some evenings and weekends
• May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen
• MCCCD does not sponsor individuals for any type of work visas

• Possession of a valid Level I DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card required
• May be required to instruct at multiple GWCC campuses
