The Department of Economic Security, Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD), is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Licensed Practical Nurse. DDD provides individuals with developmental disabilities, and their families, services and supports that are flexible, high quality, and member driven. These services provide individuals with opportunities to exercise their rights and responsibilities of independent decision-making and engagement in the community.
- This position is responsible for providing medical support to staff, completing required charting, reporting and recommended healthcare; administrating medications; providing skilled medical treatments; serving as consultant to staff regarding treatment of clients' illness, rehabilitation needs and preventive care; reviewing inventorying, verifying and delivering medications received from contracted pharmacy; providing staff training and completing other duties assigned by the Register Nurse (RN).
- Member condition and medical/physical changing care needs
- Intermediate Care Facilities for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF/ID) and State Licensing requirements
- Medication administration practices
- Providing appropriate treatment in emergency situations
- Making nursing judgment and effective problem solving
- Developing, analyzing and implementing treatment care plans and documenting properly
- Work with professional and non-professional staff to ensure health and safety of individuals
- Make independent decisions regarding member health problems
- Listen, observe, assess and respond to medical emergencies
- The ideal/preferred candidate will possess at least 1 year experience in providing professional hands-on nursing services to individuals with developmental disabilities and at least 1 year of experience in professional community nursing.
- Employee shall have a valid Level One fingerprint clearance card issued to work with children and vulnerable adults.
- In-state travel is required. This position requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training
- Required at time of appointment: possession of a current license or temporary permit to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Arizona.
