Summary
This is a hands-on technical software engineering position on the Networking and Infrastructure (NI) team. The successful candidate will support integration and configuration of computational system architecture and system software for real-time simulation applications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Develop solutions to increase automation.
- Communicate with an understanding and consideration of varied perspectives and technical knowledge specialties.
- Troubleshoot issues with flight simulator equipment and interfaces
- Improve performance of existing simulator models and algorithms.
- Show the ability to carry tasks through to completion with only general technical direction
- Travel as needed to maintain existing solutions at customer sites. (up to 25% Travel)
- Manage Linux and Windows platforms and applications.
- CMake, self-hosted Git/BitBucket knowledge useful.
- Design, integrate, and test flight simulator architectures, networks, software interfaces, and software infrastructures
- Install and configure operating systems for flight simulators.
- Define new simulation models and interfaces
- Support existing and create new software build environments.
- Show strong analysis and problem-solving skills.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- DoD Secret Clearance (or ability to obtain one required to start )
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related discipline
- Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.
- 5-10 years of direct software development experience post degree, C++ preferred (4-7 years with Master’s Degree)
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of, or willing to learn containerized development/delivery (Docker, Podman, Kubernetes)
- Configure operating system on Linux and Windows machines
- Travelling as needed to maintain existing solutions at customer sites.
- Cmake
- GNU Compiler Collection
- HLA/DIS/DDS experience
- Good communications skills
- Knowledgeable in algorithm performance and design. Able to apply knowledge
- High-level knowledge concerning compiling and linker infrastructure:
- Software Development and Debugging in C++
- Microsoft Visual Studio C++
- Management of a software baseline, including branching, merging, building, maintaining, and installing software
- Prefer 7+ years’ experience using Linux development environment
- Knowledge of, or willing to learn virtualization solutions (VMware, KVM)
- Previous simulation system experience
