This opportunity entails implementing and managing an industry-best marketing practice, in alignment with HNTB’s policies and Sophisticated Sales Approach (SSA) that expands access to information and resources to support sales teams and company leadership in driving corporate growth. The National Marketing Director consults and collaborates with stakeholders firmwide to drive development, consistency and integration of national marketing materials, information, procedures, and messaging that supports HNTB’s competitive advantage. This position supports the corporate and division strategic planning process, including providing leadership and guidance for identifying and integrating synergies firmwide. Works closely with the Division Marketing Directors and division leadership to ensure the strategic planning process benefits from the data, information, and input of a national marketing perspective.
This position can be filled in any of HNTB's office locations.
What You’ll Do:
- Anticipates, identifies, and monitors industry trends and innovations that will add value to the marketing/sales organization and communicates with senior leadership to drive awareness and engagement of opportunities to enhance business goals. Assess marketing processes and tools needed to maintain the firm’s competitive position, including recruitment and retention of marketing talent. Works closely with the learning and development team to create content for firmwide, professional marketing training courses for both best practices implementation and career growth opportunities.
- Assess development of a network of internal and external proposal/presentation resources constituting “SWAT Teams” that can serve as an extension of division marketing staff during high volume pursuit periods. Provides leadership and strategic oversight of these teams to ensure high quality results fully within the framework of HNTB’s SSA.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Manages all outside consulting marketing resources being used firmwide to ensure consistent business practices and protocols. Works exceptionally close with the National Sales/Facilitation Director, National Pursuit Champion Director and Chief Sales Officer to provide resources and support for key pursuits.
- Develops and maintains a firmwide qualifications management system and firmwide resume database. Champions the processes that will effectively capture and maintain an accurate, up-to-date database of materials needed to fully support firmwide strategy. Regularly reviews the effectiveness of the qualifications/resume system, and available marketing resources, with company leadership for opportunities to innovate and enhance marketing performance.
- Partners with Division Marketing Directors to unify the firm’s marketing communication and activities by providing ongoing opportunities to connect, share ideas and work as a cohesive support team. Provides overall mentorship and guidance to the Division Marketing Directors in the implementation of best practices.
- Establishes and oversees the development and implementation of national marketing material that will benefit all firmwide entities. Supports corporate communications’ branding, public relations, and social media activities and facilitates corporate communications support of sales efforts.
What You’ll Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, communications or related degree and 15 years of professional experience in A/E/P marketing, with a demonstrated grasp and proven knowledge in strategic planning, development of marketing procedures and systems and staff leadership.
What You'll Bring:
- Strong understanding of public sector A/E/P procurement processes for qualifications, proposals, and interviews
- Knowledge and proficiency with computer databases and technology tools used in the A/E/P industry
- Experience in successfully leading marketing production teams and collaborating with technical professionals
What We Prefer:
- Extensive experience in using computer database tools in the A/E/P sector
- Proven effective collaboration with multi-office teams and multiple geographies
- 20 years’ experience
- Experience working for a major national consultant in the infrastructure business sector
- Experience in business Strategic Planning processes
- Successful supervisory management experience

The approximate pay range for New York City and Westchester County, NY is $240,340.34 - $399,916.97. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting.
