Creative Director (AD)


Expedia Group’s Global Marketing Communications team is dedicated to developing and executing innovative and effective global marketing across our family of brands. Within this organization, the Creative team is Expedia Group’s center of excellence, and is responsible for developing high-impact, iconic and culturally relevant creative for consumer marketing, content and experiences. We are seeking a Creative Director (AD).


What You’ll Do


  • Partnering with external partners and agencies, as well as our internal global team, you will help build cohesive teams, lead with creative vision, and mentor younger talent
  • Define, drive and teach exemplary visual and interaction design practice
  • Provide guidance to your teams regarding the preparation and delivery of communications, ensuring recipients have enough information and time to fulfill their goals while evaluating effectiveness
  • Hold self and teams accountable for setting and meeting departmental goals
  • You will partner with managers and individual contributors across brand strategy, product, technology, production, customer engagement and more to develop a deep understanding of our brands’ needs, leverage insights that solve strategic problems, and evangelize for the power of great creative work that will shift consumer perception and drive results
  • Work with flexibility and fluidity, building trust with others, and seeing the big picture while keeping an eye on every detail
  • Advise key internal/external stakeholders by continuously helping them to successfully navigate ever fluctuating critical business requirements
  • Understand measurement and performance and develop methodologies for optimizing execution
  • Build an organizational culture that fosters innovation through creative ambition and collaborative development of ideas
  • Ensure that the creative look/feel, design, photography, positioning, identity, visuals and storytelling proposed will help to build a brand our customers will love and trust
  • As an Art Director/Creative Director, in partnership with a Copywriter/Creative Director, you will play a critical role in defining Expedia’s creative strategy: conceiving and executing campaigns, producing creative assets, and developing ideas for how our brands’ value propositions and positioning comes to life
  • You will do everything from conceptualizing campaigns to reviewing creative work, serving as an inspirational creative voice, educator, and servant leader
  • Proactively identifiy and resolve issues that may impair the team's ability to meet strategic, marketing, financial and technical goals
  • Offer coaching and expertise for communicating effective messages about the brand and product features/benefits in order improve the chance of reaching targeted customers and increasing sales


Who You Are


  • Established portfolio of work demonstrating range of ability, often with external recognition and awards
  • Experience with a highly developed ability to showcase strategic thinking and creative concepts that result in compelling campaigns and 360 creative work
  • Proven ability building and leading global teams - a mentor with a keen eye on DE&I issues and opportunities
  • Understanding of various design platforms/software
  • Experience developing stories and assets across all platforms/channels
  • Experience directing agency work as a brand client preferred
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in advertising/marketing/design or related field; or equivalent related professional experience
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to create and deliver presentations that articulate concepts in a compelling manner to build understanding and support at all levels
  • Proven record of working successfully with cross-functional groups, both internally and externally, in a fast-paced environment with ever changing direction and ambiguity
  • Ability to creatively direct across the board - whether with external agencies, freelancers, vendors, and/or internal production resources - ensuring best-in-class work is delivered on-time and within budget
  • Successful experience (10+ years) as an Art Director in an agency or in-house environment with proven success on global lifestyle and/or cultural-impact brands


The total cash range for this position in West Hollywood is $184,500.00 to $258,000.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $295,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.


Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
