Location: DAH – Historic Arkansas Museum

Job Duties: Prepares and maintains manual and digital catalog and inventory records for donated and purchased items. This includes cataloging objects, as well as taking documentary images using a digital camera or scanner, and updating all object data (measurements, descriptions, history, value, photographic record, provenance, etc.) in the collection management software. Helps oversee the management and maintenance of the museum’s collections, storage spaces, galleries, and historic structures. Processes loaned object requests to and from the museum, maintains both manual and digital loan records, contacts lenders regarding updates, extensions, delinquencies, etc.
Maintains manual object research files, individual object catalog files, as well as donor and purchase files. Properly stores museum objects and archival materials. Responsible for the insurance of the collection. Maintains manual object registration books. Oversees the physical movement of museum objects to and from storage, exhibit galleries, historic houses, as well as to and from off-site locations for exhibit or storage purposes. Assists curators in the installation and takedown of scheduled exhibits, both within the galleries and the historic houses. Monitors and maintains a computerized record of the museum's temperature and humidity recording instruments in the galleries and storage. Maintains pest logs as well. Maintains photographic records of objects in the collection, exhibitions, historic houses, and incidents on the historic grounds involving the houses and objects inside. Assists in the training and supervision of interns and volunteers. Produces reports for inventory and insurance purposes.
Applicants must meet or exceed these qualifications: The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in museum studies, history, art or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience using PastPerfect software.
