Job Description
This position is located in Glen Cove, NY. To be considered, you must live or relocate to Long Island ( Queens, Nassau, and Suffolk Counties).
We are looking for full-time trainees to join a team of artisans to produce high-end lighting parts. Must have some experience working with metal (plus if experienced with brass) and patinas. Our finishing department produces 6 brass patina finish techniques. You will train to handle our various parts from prep to finish. Finishes will be added as you master techniques.

Some of the problems we solve daily include how to consistently create meticulous handcrafted, bench-made finishes better on our workshop floor, how to improve our jigs and tools to better that work and how to continually elevate our products to create heirloom quality lighting for the home.
Continuous process improvement is the goal.

Key Responsibilities

What you'll do:
  • Quality checking against control samples and drawings
  • Cleaning material buildup from brazing brass
  • Identify bad inventory with material scarring too deep for finishing around the studio
  • Deburring and softening edges to safety from fabrication processes
  • Become familiar with Allied Maker 100+ designs and 500+ metal parts.
  • Updating production system with status of finishing for orders
  • Cleaning brass surfaces and preparing the material to receive finishes

Ideal Candidate

Needed:
  • Valid drivers license
  • Physically able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Experience with sandblasting, buffer wheels, lathes, and hand tools should be cultivated to perform the job well.
  • Excellent eye for attention to details
  • Able to work in a very fast-paced environment
  • Excellent physical organization skills
