X-Ray Technician Jobs

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey currently has an opening for an X-Ray Technician in the Office of the Chief Health and Safety Officer’s Medical Services Division. The Office of Medical Services (OMS) provides occupational medical services to ensure a stable, productive, safe, and healthy workforce; ensures that employees meet the medical requirements of their positions, and that the agency remains in compliance with applicable government regulations, federal requirements, and memoranda of agreement; and helps to guard against excessive use of sick time and mitigate overtime through oversight of the Integrated Absence Program.

In this role, the successful candidate will:

• Be familiar with all diagnostic equipment;
• Have the ability to produce high quality images efficiently regardless of volume;
• Demonstrate the ability to provide assistance to external and internal customers, and provide excellent customer service;
• Perform assigned duties under the direct supervision of the Supervising Nurse;
• Perform diagnostic imaging including general X-Ray in accordance with established protocols;
• Be able to deal with emergent situations and take on additional administrative tasks as directed.
• Be responsible for patient care while performing imaging, to include accuracy of patient identification; and

Qualifications:

• Ability to position patients for X-ray, adjust restriction devices and equipment to set exposure factors
• NY or NJ Radiology License
• ARRT Certification
• A minimum of 1-2 years of experience
• Use beam-restrictive devices and patient-shielding techniques to minimize radiation exposure to patient and staff.
• Determine patient X-ray needs by accurately interpreting special instructions from physicians
• Strong communication skills in order to provide clear instructions to patients on the process of procedures performed

• Strong aptitude for detail, organizational skills, problem solving capabilities, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently, or with a team of healthcare professionals.
• Have functional and practical knowledge of electronic medical record systems.
