Job Description
Description: Medical Assistant: Perform selected nursing and administrative/clerical duties that assist in the delivery of primary health care and patient care management under the direction of a physician. These duties are delegated in relation to the individual's degree of training, in accordance with the objectives and policies of the organization and respective state laws governing such action and activities. Front Office: We are looking for a dynamic customer service oriented Front Desk Receptionist to join our growing practice. This is a very fast paced environment. High Energy, Organized, Highly Pleasant - Personal. Candidate must be well-organized, detail-oriented, motivated, and have excellent communication skills. Punctuality & Strong attendance is a must. He/she must be able to work under pressure and work well with others. He/she must have the willingness and ambition to learn and take on a variety of responsibilities. Medical Assistant duties:
  • Keeps patient appointments on schedule by notifying provider of patient's arrival; reviewing service delivery compared to schedule; reminding provider of service delays.
  • Maintains patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information.
  • Works closely with the physician to receive guidance and instruction for treating patients.
  • Excellent people skills. Ability to work well and effectively with others. Education, Licenses/Certification
  • Perform selected nursing and administrative duties.
  • Manage time effectively to complete all patient treatments and related activities as assigned.
  • Welcomes patients and visitors by greeting patients and visitors, in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Help patients in distress by responding to emergencies.
  • Demonstrate support to others by offering help.
  • Perform direct patient care as instructed by the physician.
  • Complete appropriate documentation on all patients treated
  • Obtains revenue by recording and updating financial information; recording and collecting patient charges; controlling credit extended to patients; filing, collecting, and expediting third-party claims.
  • Prepare and maintain supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilization.
  • Compile and condense technical and statistical data for reports and records.
  • Perform related work as required. Front office duties:
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
  • Utilize formal channels of communication to report concerns, personal requests and patient issues.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with patients and other staff.
  • Maintain patient files, record and other information.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients and other staff.
  • Ensures availability of treatment information by filing and retrieving patient records.
  • Prepare patients for examination and treatment. Take patient histories and vital signs.
  • Detail orientation and organization.
  • Perform related clerical duties such as filing and scheduling patients as required.
  • Report to work properly dressed according to the approved dress code.
  • Assist with scheduling of tests and treatments.
  • Knowledge and skills usually acquired through courses imparted by an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Maintain equipment in a clean and safe condition at all times,
  • Assist physicians in preparing for minor surgeries and exams.
  • Optimizes patients' satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization by scheduling appointments in person or by telephone.
  • Under proper supervision by a physician and/or laboratory director, perform specimen collection and simple laboratory testing common to a private medical practice, such as: urine drug tests, breath alcohol tests, urinalysis, blood glucose by finger sticks, etc.
  • Administer injections and applies dressings as instructed.
  • Maintain an orderly and professional working atmosphere.
  • Adjust to quality assurance policies and procedures concerning all physical therapy issues.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Skill in documenting and maintaining patient care records.
  • Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information.
  • Skill in following medical quality assurance and quality control standards.
  • Respect patients' rights to privacy and confidentiality.
  • Skill in identifying and communicating problems to the supervisor.
  • Comfort patients by anticipating patients' anxieties; answering patients' questions; maintaining the reception area.
  • Maintain operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
  • Attend required meetings and participate in committees as requested.
  • Take all necessary precautions to protect center assets and property against loss or waste through negligence or dishonesty.
  • Good telephone manners and etiquette.
  • Assist in the solution of problems as directed by Supervisor.
  • Knowledge of examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures.
  • Maintain business office inventory and equipment by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies; scheduling equipment service and repairs.
  • Adhere to guidelines concerning working hours and break periods.
  • Bilingual skills in Spanish preferred.
  • Good oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Certification obtained from an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
