Primary Function
Required to be in direct liaison with News and Program Producers, having full overview of all incoming media and media processes in the program asset management system and media asset management system.
The Media Manager will have full knowledge of all file-based workflows, archive protocols, servers, storages, network, and video codecs. The responsibility also includes media trans-coding and delivering content.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Process media for internal and external clients maintaining quality and timely delivery.
- Ensure the workflows and processes are followed as per the media management guiding documents.
- Collaborate in all communications with newsroom producers, program producers, in‐field cameraperson‐journalists, agencies, and post‐production studios.
- Support the supervisor to apply workflow improvements in the transcoding and delivery processes.
- First line support for newsroom for all media systems and workflows and escalating to broadcast IT teams.
- Prioritize requests to avoid bottleneck and streamline all processes in media hubs.
- Any other tasks deemed appropriate.
- Apply use and maintain healthy file system storages, Production asset management, Signiant, and MAM systems.
- Support documenting all workflows, policies and procedures and aligning to the centralized approach across the network.
- Card ingesting, file ingesting and reviewing the quality of the file‐based ingests.
- Maintaining naming conventions across the workflow, creating, and updating necessary metadata attributes in Archive systems.
- Ensure cataloging, researching, and maintaining hierarchical storage management systems for Archive and its databases.
- Manage and facilitate the process of sharing the content between channels and broadcast centers.

- Operation of video switcher
- Adaptive to multi-cultural work environment.
- Quick to react to situations or respond to questions/commands
- Has a firm understanding of broadcast technical standards and protocols.
- Can work under pressure
- Broad understanding of video chain through studio and where the video switcher fits in.
- Broad understanding of the video signals being routed to the switcher and what they are for.
- An understanding of news and current affairs and an eye for detail.
- Technical ability within a broadcast environment
- Fluent English speaker and able to communicate effectively both verbally and written.
- News/Programs production workflow experience.
- Can appreciate/spot aesthetic detail
- Hands-on experience in file-based production systems and hierarchical storage management systems for Archive.
- A demonstrable understanding of video formats, playback workflow, servers and broadcast production
- Possesses a sound knowledge with current codecs and the tools required to view and transcode.
- Can recognize and meet strict deadlines
Education & Experience
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in media and Journalism, Communications, Broadcast Operations, or related field.
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience working in a technical or file-based broadcast environment.
