Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to join our team as a Materials Manager for our automotive supplier company located in the greater Franklin, GA area. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the materials and inventory management processes to ensure smooth and efficient operations within our organization.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and execute strategies to effectively manage materials planning, procurement, and inventory control activities.
  2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, logistics, and quality control, to ensure timely availability of materials to support production schedules.
  3. Monitor and analyze inventory levels, identifying opportunities to optimize stock levels, minimize carrying costs, and prevent stockouts or overstocks.
  4. Implement and maintain effective forecasting and demand planning processes to accurately predict material requirements and coordinate with suppliers accordingly.
  5. Build strong relationships with suppliers, negotiate contracts, and manage supplier performance to ensure on-time delivery, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  6. Continuously evaluate supplier performance and identify opportunities for improvement, such as lead time reduction, cost savings, and quality enhancements.
  7. Collaborate with the Quality team to ensure adherence to quality standards and resolve any material-related issues or non-conformities.
  8. Implement and maintain efficient materials tracking systems, utilizing technology and tools to improve visibility, accuracy, and efficiency.
  9. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, industry standards, and internal policies related to materials management.
  10. Lead, coach, and develop a team of materials professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.
  2. Proven experience (minimum 5 years) in materials management, preferably within the automotive industry.
  3. Strong knowledge of materials planning, procurement, and inventory control processes.
  4. Familiarity with ERP systems and proficiency in using relevant materials management software.
  5. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  6. Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  7. Detail-oriented mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  8. Solid understanding of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  9. Familiarity with quality management systems and experience in working with quality teams is advantageous.
  10. Ability to adapt to changing business needs and contribute to process improvements.
