Job Summary and Key Responsibilities:
The Manufacturing and Production Operations Leader oversees daily operations in all our production departments. These departments consist of packaging, kitting, tube fabrication, coil fabrication, electrical harness, sheet metal, welding, and painting. This leader will have 3 direct reports consisting of a packaging and kitting supervisor, 2 production scheduler/Coordinators. This role will oversee the 2 areas of Packaging/Kitting and Manufacturing to ensure all employees are maintaining a safe and productive work environment, ensure employees are getting the training and necessary tools that focuses on quality. The leader will provide coaching to develop team members to follow standard work, problem solve, strive for continuous improvement, perform quality work, and drive overall employee engagement.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for long range planning and capital equipment acquisition.
- Provide process direction, expertise, and effort in specific manufacturing, packaging, and kitting areas. Focus is on meeting plant and team objectives in ESQDIP (Engagement, safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and productivity)
- Responsible for Annual Operating Budget
- Strive to reach fill rate and productivity goals using an operational excellence approach and lean methods.
- Responsible for all operations in Manufacturing, Packaging, and Kitting
- Assure that employees are being trained to problem solve and utilize the available tools to continuously improve.
- Conduct meetings to maintain employee / employer relations, encourage employee engagement, and promote improved communication.
- Assure employees are trained on assigned jobs, use tools and equipment in a safe and proper manner, and maintain a clean working environment.
- Coordinate with engineering, maintenance, and others in solving problems that occur to assure a quality product is produced in a timely manner.
- Plan, initiate, determine staffing to meet production requirements of customers, provide quality product, and assure schedules are being met.
- Complete and maintain necessary records.
Qualifications:
- Must be able to manage effectively and exhibit strong technical aptitude.
- Must enjoy working in a fast-paced, multi-faceted work environment.
- Experience leading a union work force would be beneficial.
- Proficient in reading blueprints.
- Demonstrated ability to work with all levels of management.
- Ability to enhance a team environment, including development of team-oriented managers and supervisors.
- Proficient in the Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, and Power point)
- Direct experience in supervising people and leading teams is required.
- Exceptional leadership and project management skills with the ability to drive project-specific issues and goals to closure.
- Minimum 5 years of managing teams in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency at defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions using Lean methodologies.
- Oracle software experience preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in related field required and / or have equivalent experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
- Demonstrated experience leading Operational Excellence deployment or managing in an OpEx environment.
