The Details:

Location:Headquartered in Downtown Seattle

Work Schedule:Our typical business hours are 8:30-5:00 PST Monday-Friday.

Travel Requirements:Up to 10%

About the Position:

Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, the Managing Director of the Health Benefit Trust will lead policy and operations to support health benefits delivery to more than 55,000 home care workers; the nation’s fastest-growing job. This leader has a unique combination of strategy, policy and operations talent. Working with staff and trustees, this leader will facilitate benefit design, strategy and overall operations for medical, dental and wellness services to impact home care workers and larger healthcare systems transformation.

You Will:

  • Head a portfolio to empower home care worker health and transform the healthcare system including:
  1. Design and operation of medical and dental insurance benefits and navigation to those benefits;
  2. Operation of wellness services including behavioral health, healthy weight and on-the-job safety.
  • Lead strategy and operational roadmaps including short and long-term planning;
  • Serve as spokesperson and hold relationships with plan and provider partners, as well as stakeholders in the purchaser, consumer and policy communities;
  • Ensure all regulatory compliance;
  • Responsible for workforce management and development including oversight of the Health Trust leadership team and their direct reports;
  • Additional duties as assigned by your manager.
  • Serve as spokesperson with internal and external stakeholders concerning health administration including labor, state agency and home care agency representatives;
  • Manage selection process for strategic partners including investment and benefit design advisors, health plan carriers and third-party administrator services;
  • Working collaboratively with the Senior Leadership Team in realizing the organization's Strategic Initiatives;
  • Oversee the creation and distribution of plan documents, filings and employee summary literature to ensure they are prepared and issued as required through consultation with legal counsel;
  • Responsible for team performance, health plan success metrics, Trust budget and contracts;
  • Drive benefit plan design recommendations and implementation of benefits in consultation with the Board of Trustees;
  • Oversee and report, transparently to the board, all key aspects impacting the trust including but not limited to operations, income, expenses and product strategies;
  • Lead and empower strategic problem-solving and ongoing quality improvement in health benefit and plan administration;
  • Manage Board of Trustee meetings to brief the Board on all aspects of the Health Benefits Trust;
  • Development of theHealth Trust team to ensure employee growth within the organization and a clear line of succession;

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, healthcare administration or proven experience with exceptional results can be substituted in lieu of education;

  • Deep connection to improving home care jobs to benefit workers, consumers and society.
  • Skilled team leader with experience leading direct reports;

  • Solid knowledge of the healthcare environment including purchaser, provider, payor and federal and state public policy trends;
  • Account management experience;
  • Solid conflict management skill;
  • 10 years of progressive leadership experience, related to this experience, preferably in healthcare operations;
  • Strategic acumen and ability to move from strategy to action with judgement;
  • Demonstrated track record of using purchasing and positional power to catalyze systems change;
  • High attention to detail and dependable follow-through;


It Will Be Great if You Have:

  • Master’s degree in business administration, education administration, or healthcare administration;
  • Experience with a Labor and Management partnership.


Salary Range:

  • $130,000 to $158,165
