Job Description
Overview:

Major Position Responsibilities:
This position will be located at the new GD-OTS facility located in Mesquite.

Summary:

Position will operate under the team concept and is also responsible for coordinating the multiple tasks throughout the Forgings Quality, Sales, and Operations departments. Work in close conjunction with Production and Production Control, with the ultimate goal of providing support for all activities associated with the compliance of product to the contractual and applicable specifications requirements.

Essential Functions:
  • Performs quality-engineering reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements, including vendor quality manuals and company quality records.
  • Keeps management team abreast of significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and actions being taken to improve the situation.
  • Reviews all data obtained during all quality assurance activities to ensure consistency with company policies and procedures.
  • Accept or reject product and decides whether to continue business with a vendors based on a Quality Engineering reviews.
  • Directs technical and administrative workers engaged in quality assurance activities.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of government and industry quality assurance codes and standards.
  • Investigates and adjusts customer complaints regarding quality. Issues CARs and SCARs as appropriate.
  • Designs and implements quality assurance training programs to key personnel in conjunction with managers.
  • Applies statistical process control (SPC) methods for analyzing data to evaluate the current process and process changes.
  • Performs vendor audits of quality systems, processes, or services and makes recommendations. Performs or direct source inspections.
  • Plays an active role on quality management teams within the organization.
  • Interprets quality assurance requirements and policy to key personnel in organization.
  • Formulates and maintains quality assurance objectives complementary to corporate policies and goals.
  • Prepares and presents technical and program information to the management team.
  • Responsible for NADCAP audits and AS 9100 System Audits and serves as primary point of Contact.
  • Develops new approaches to solve problems identified during quality assurance activities.

Basic Qualifications:
Education:
  • 5-7 years related experience in functional area, plus 1 -3 years managerial experience
  • Bachelor's degree required, discipline/major Engineering or Business
Knowledge, Skills & Abiliities:
  • Requires knowledge of Quality Assurance Systems, such as ISO 9001, AS 9100, and compliance to industry quality specifications or related manufacturing practices including some metallurgical and NDT knowledge.
  • Preferred knowledge and understanding of NAS-410 standards and ability to be NDT/UT level 3 certified.
  • Must be familiar with purchase order requirements and government contracts regulations.
Preferred:
  • Experience with start ups, such as project planning, and establishing business processes, management systems, and work instructions is desired. This is an exciting opportunity to create the business processes, systems, and culture to stand up a high performing manufacturing operation.
