WORK SHIFT

SUMMARY OF DUTIES
Provides Merit Medical with guidance and direction for the manufacturing process to meet the profitability goals of the Manufacturing Department. This position may have responsibility for non-primary working hour Engineering, Materials, Quality Assurance, and Molding employees, and the security of facilities and other company resources.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS PERFORMED
1. Meets with other members of the production management team to determine daily production priorities and to monitor production standards.
2. Manages manufacturing operations to ensure that all needs are met for Merit's manufacturing and sub-assembly process and that resources are provided to obtain peak performance.
3. Provides managerial and technical support to assist others to achieve their assigned job tasks.
4. Resolves problems to ensure that quality needs are being met and manufacturing criteria are adhered to.
5. Provides input for manufacturing project approval and evaluates the performance of employees as related to those projects.
6. Plans and generates estimates for the manufacturing department to foresee future obstacles and provides leadership to overcome them.
7. Performs management assignments for the department such as interviewing, hiring, performance appraisal, training, employee discipline, termination, and work review/scheduling.
8. May discipline and monitor time and attendance of employees assigned to non-primary shifts and has authority to take appropriate actions to ensure site integrity.
9. May assume responsibility for new or existing departments or operations during a volume ramp up period or coverage situations.
10. Performs other managerial tasks.

SUMMARY OF MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Demonstrated computer skills preferably spreadsheets, word processing, database, and other applicable software programs.
  • Education and/or experience equivalent to at least a Bachelor' Degree with emphasis in manufacturing engineering and operations.
  • Ability to work as a member of a top management team to accomplish organizational objectives and meet organizational quotas.
  • Knowledge of the application of principles of Total Quality Management in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of and experience in utilizing Good Manufacturing Processes (GMP) and other manufacturing process controls.
  • A minimum of six years of related managerial experience, with two years of extensive technical engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to creatively solve problems in meeting the product development and manufacturing needs of a medical manufacturing organization.
