What Will You Be Doing?

The Manager of Learning and Development will be responsible supporting a learning strategy that meets the needs of Frontier Airlines’ employees, with a particular focus on professional development opportunities. This will include reviewing HR data to assess needs and developing or identifying learning content that meets those needs. Monitor effectiveness of the training programs needed to support company initiatives and company policy. Provide direction and leadership to the L&D team.

Essential Functions

  • Manage a Learning Management System (LMS) for the company to monitor compliance and identify training needs.
  • Implement and maintain a new leader development program, including a strong focus on diversity candidates.
  • Provide support and assistance to other training teams within the company to ensure alignment of content, efficient use of training systems and facilitate sharing of best practices across the organization.
  • Design, develop, coordinate and facilitate, as necessary, training materials to meet corporate objectives using a variety of delivery systems including traditional and nontraditional methods and multi-media.
  • Define a learning and development strategy for Frontier Airlines employees. This includes ongoing needs assessment, analyzing relevant data for trends, working with HR Business Partners and leaders throughout the organization to identify training needs.
  • Identify new, best-in-class internal and external training resources that meet the training needs of the company.
  • Work with HR Business Partners to create and implement personalized learning plans for selected managers, including those identified during the succession planning process.
  • Perform regular quality audits to determine effectiveness of trainers, training material, methods of training and identify other potential areas of need.

Other Functions

  • Manage special projects and committees as needed.
  • Work directly with the L&D team to ensure quality control and effectiveness of all training.
  • Act as a liaison for training to ensure standardization and consistency within the company.
  • Serve as an internal consultant for company.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the creation and production of curriculum and training materials required
  • Availability to travel up to 20% of the time
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Human Resources, Education, Communications or comparable discipline; combination of relevant education and experience considered in lieu of degree
  • Prior experience in a leadership role
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in teaching, training and adult education
  • Computer-based training development experience desired

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Moderate to advanced computer application “user” skills such as database, spreadsheet applications and PowerPoint presentations
  • Competent in interpersonal communications, collaboration, critical-thinking and problem solving
  • Self-directed and independent work habits
  • Strong oral, written and presentation communication skills
  • Proven ability in the development and implementation of training solutions
  • Proven ability to communicate clearly with persons in all levels of the organization (written and verbal) regardless of the message
  • Ability to demonstrate superior instructional and facilitation skills
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple, concurrent projects and priorities

  • Standard office equipment, including PC, copier, fax machine, printer

Work Environment

  • Extended working hours in accordance with operational needs. Must be willing to work long and odd hours during start-ups and changes or transition periods within company
  • Schedule will include some travel and flexibility of being away for periods of time.
  • Will have several different environments to work in including normal office, classroom, auditorium or conference rooms.
