SUMMMARY:


The Manager of Health & Safety supports development, evaluation, implementation of health and safety programs and procedures to ensure ENGIE Impact’s compliance with all applicable codes, standards, regulations and requirements in the America’s.

The Manager of Health and Safety (H&S) is primarily responsible for removing or minimizing the risk of incidents, work-related illnesses, and injuries in the workplace. The role will require a holistic view of employee wellbeing to consider physical and psychological requirements within the workplace environment. Partner with Operations and other teams to execute ENGIE Impact and Group policies and ensures compliance to all applicable local, regional, and federal regulations. Will lead regional workplace and Customer project H&S activities by consulting and supporting stakeholders in accordance with internal, legal and Customer requirements. Identifying hazards and assessing associated risks in our business activities to mitigate these risks as far as reasonably practicable for a safe and healthy working environment for employees, visitors and contractors.


PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Prepare informative H&S and security reports.
  • Oversee, develop, train, and manage ENGIE Impact’s regional emergency notification system use and tests.
  • Support maintaining and update of ENGIE Group, GBU and internal H&S management system policies and processes and drive continuous improvement Support implementation and monitoring of H&S KPI’s and metrics Oversee regional office safety volunteer teams including the establishment of meetings, communications and trainings.
  • Support regional people security responsibilities including travel security requirements including use of the International SOS Platform.
  • Work with broader Facilities team to ensure vendor safety and compliance with all applicable safety protocols.
  • Support project delivery staff with project H&S roles and responsibilities, including completion of project Safety Plans, evaluation of subcontractors, preliminary risk assessments and method statements and on site H&S compliance audits for site activities regionally and cross border, as and when required
  • Conduct office H&S hazard identification and risk assessments and support implementation of mitigation measures
  • Embed and reinforce “No Life at Risk” culture attributes in all aspects of our business, including decision-making processes, employee experience, and communications.
  • Provide proper and timely investigation and reporting of H&S incidents.

The pay range for this role is: $81,000-122,000


Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data. This position is eligible for our comprehensive and competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Additional ENGIE benefits include a 401k plan, paid time off and annual bonus . ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws.


Qualifications


Education/Certification/


Knowledge


  • Professional certification such as Safety Management Specialist (SMS) preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety, or related field.
  • May accept a combination of relevant experience in lieu of educational requirements.


Experience:


  • 5+ years of corporate safety experience with exceptional judgment and strong interpersonal skills to be confident, comfortable, and effective in dealing with global employees; senior management, and executive team driving consensus and results.
  • May consider less experience in combination with educational and other skills and abilities candidate possesses.
  • 5+ years of directly related Safety Program Management experience.
  • Experience with multi-site global organizations preferred.


Skills/Abilities


  • Federal and State Safety and Health Laws and Regulations.
  • Ability to build strong relationships and gain trust and consensus, particularly at senior leadership levels; must be adept at influencing and building credibility in cross-functional, global environments.
  • Ability to nimbly transition between strategic and tactical planning, with a strong capability in shifting focus and approach per the ever-evolving needs of the business.
  • Experience with leading safety, security, crisis management and stakeholder engagement.
  • Excellent experience leading, motivating, and influencing teams to accomplish goals and leading through workspace changes while fostering a strong collaborative work environment.
  • Ability to identify and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations outside of the US.
  • Experience independently managing and inspecting industrial H&S compliance and project H&S responsibilities on Customer sites.
  • Experience working with C-Suite and Senior Leadership to communicate, influence and drive program/initiative support.
  • Ability to “think outside of the box” and provide creative and agile solutions that unify best practices and business needs in a scalable, sustainable approach.
  • OSHA regulations (US).


WORK ENVIRONMENT


  • Incumbent may be exposed to frequent noise caused by office and project industrial site equipment and activities, including telephones, office machines, and nearby oral communications among fellow employees.
  • This position is classified as a “Hybrid” position and may work 2-3 days per week from a home office. As such, an ergonomic work-from-home office/dedicated area with appropriate internet and bandwidth to conduct business is required.
  • Performing duties and attending events during the evening and on the weekend occurs and may be required.
  • Project visits and over-night travel will be required , including international travel .


Required Physical Abilities


  • Ability to lift and carry a stack of forms and documents weighing up to 15 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, stand, move from one area of the building to another on a regular basis, sit and use a computer for a long period of time.
  • Adequate hearing and verbal abilities to communicate effectively in person and by telephone.
  • Sufficient near vision acuity to read information appearing on computer display screen, in handwritten forms, and printed on paper.
  • Manual and physical dexterity are needed to operate a computer keyboard and handle paper documents.
