SLR has an opening for a Group Health and Safety Director to continue driving forward our strong safety culture across our fast growing and dynamic environmental consultancy business.


As we continue to grow, SLR requires a highly experienced operator to ensure that safety remains a pre-condition of everything we do, and to ensure we are recognized as a safety leader within the environmental services sector.


The position will report directly to SLR’s Chief Operating Officer, and the successful applicant will be expected to work closely with operational leaders to drive a collaborative safety culture and strategy across the global business, providing clear priorities and goals to operational management. focused on minimizing risks, and to achieve broad level of employee engagement in our safety programs. As a global role, you may be located in any of SLR’s US offices; however, must be able to travel internationally.

Qualifications



  • Previous or Current experience in a global leadership role required
  • Appreciation of different cultures and attitudes across the globe is an advantage
  • As a highly effective communicator and networker you will appreciate wider business aims, and be capable of integrating safety strategies around common goals
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Safety
  • You have a broad technical understanding of the work undertaken by environmental consultants and the environments in which they operate
  • Certified Safety Professional
  • You will have significant experience leading safety strategy and effectively influencing the safety culture within a large business environment
  • You will have the necessary recognized qualifications and professional development to work at a global level within an environmental consulting business
  • 15-20 years relevant experience with 5 years minimum experience in a Health and Safety global role

  • Coach and support SLR regional safety professionals and teams
  • Lead the development and implementation of SLR’s health and safety strategy and provide a consistent approach to safety risk management across SLR’s global operations
  • Support business success and continuous improvement through effectively communicating SLR’s safety achievements and lessons
  • Monitor SLR’s safety culture and compliance status with respect to company safety expectations and standards, and work with safety and operational teams to implement improvement strategies
  • Support the due diligence of company acquisitions and their effective integration into SLR’s safety programs
  • Expand safety leadership skills throughout operational management
  • Provide pragmatic guidance to SLR operations, consistent with the company’s culture and legal responsibilities
  • Help foster strong relationships with our clients, contractors and other business partners to promote a shared commitment to safety
