Job Description


The Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager is responsible for managing all Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental programs and respective reporting requirements for the Helena, AR site.

Accountability

  1. Ensure Helena personnel are in compliance with site and regulatory policies.
  2. Maintain updated policies and programs to comply with appropriate laws and regulations
  3. Ensure site personnel are complying with Safety, Health and Environmental training requirements as defined by policy or regulation.
  4. Ensure compliance to maintain ISO 14001 Certification.

Job Duties:

  • Manage and supervise janitorial employee to maintain a clean and sanitized work environment.
  • Manage and implement safety programs within business requirements.
  • Work with the site to ensure compliance with organic peroxide manufacturing philosophy to ensure safe operations.
  • Responsible for being the main contact for UI-Helena as the expert on EHS topics.
  • Actively participate/lead the PHA process.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of regulations impacting UI-Helena operations including but not limited to OSHA, EPA, DOT and NFPA.
  • Review, modify and train employees on US safety forms while maintaining accuracy with the most up to date information and reviewed with the sites periodically.
  • Manage the safety variance system.
  • Generate and submit Safety, Health and Environmental reports as required by law or policy.
  • Become the Process Safety Leader for the site.
  • Review and update policies and programs to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, including OSHA,EPA and DOT.
  • Conduct site training as required for personnel, contractors, or others.
  • Become the site‘s leader in fire protection systems.
  • Develop and maintain standardized procedures for safety programs, policies, and production processes.

Requirements:

  • Work out of the Helena, AR location
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certificate preferred
  • Position will require the ability to climb stairs and successfully navigate congested sites without injury.
  • 5+ years of experience in hazmat field preferred
  • PSM knowledge preferred
  • OSHA instructor training preferred
  • Position will require lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Travel time requirement - minimal to none
  • Must have the ability to train and motivate members to achieve a safety-first culture
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent required
  • Must be able to understand and give verbal and written forms of communication including preparation of clear, concise, and accurate reports.
  • 5+ years of experience in Environmental, Health and/or Safety field in an industrial/manufacturing setting preferred
