POSITION SUMMARY
The overall purpose of this position is to implement the companies maintenance program, including preventive and corrective maintenance of all production equipment, modification of production equipment for increased efficiencies, inventory of spare parts and materials, maintenance of production building and grounds, and energy and utilities conservation. Must have open availability; including Saturdays.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide technical and problem solving assistance to other departments, including recommendations for equipment and process improvements to reduce operating costs and increase efficiencies.
- Attend job requests; executes assigned projects; and providing technical and problem solving assistance and recommendations to other factory departments.
- Work closely with the Production Departments to ensure the safe and efficient operation of production equipment.
- Inspect and repair to ensure that all systems operate at capacities required to meet production schedules.
- Inspect and coordinate the job of contractors in the Maintenance Department for the execution of maintenance projects to assure that projects are completed on schedule.
- Identifies parts, supplies, and services necessary to support assigned areas.
- Executes assigned purchase and keep inventories of Maintenance tools, parts, and supplies.
- Performs corrective and preventative maintenance programs to reduce equipment downtime, while working in cooperation with other departments.
- The company reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.
- Maintains daily records to support the Preventive Maintenance and Work Order systems.
- Prepare and submit reports in a timely fashion to keep upper management informed regarding downtime, efficiencies, inventories, spending, and schedules.
- Attends departmental meetings to stay informed regarding departmental, factory, and company performance, issues, and information.
- Troubleshoot packaging equipment.
- Fix or repair the machinery as assigned according to demands from affected areas such as: to motor control equipment, hydraulic pump systems, control panels, programmable logic controllers (PLC's), solenoid valves, alarm systems, personnel and food safety monitoring systems, lighting, electric heat tracking, etc.
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/SKILL LEVEL
- Must possess an ability to communicate effectively and work well with all people.
- Must be able to tolerate extreme working conditions including environmental extremes of hot and cold.
- Must have 2 years+ of maintenance mechanic experience
- Must be able to recognize inaccuracies in a timely fashion
- Must be able to work independently
- Must be detail-oriented and possess good organizational skills
- Employees will follow all safety protocols and perform their job responsibilities in a safe manner. Safety is everyone’s responsibility
- Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
- Must possess good mathematical skills.
- Must be able to perform well under stress
- Responsible for following all Food Safety Policies and Safety Procedures
- Must be able to read schematic drawings and electrical wiring plans
- Must be able to identify sensory issues with cooked goods and adjustments that are needed to correct any issues
- Must be able to learn how to operate various-equipment.
- Must be able to read, write and speak English proficiently
PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS
- MANUAL DEXTERITY: Requires the use of hands, arms, feet for lifting and carrying tools and supplies, operating power tools such as drill presses and radial saws, climbing ladders, using hand tools
- MENTAL: Requires a relatively high degree of concentration and attention to operate power tools and follow written instruction.
- VISUAL: Requires the use of vision to observe projects to determine design and materials needed, operate forklift and other equipment, design layouts, use hand and power tools and read written instructions.
- AUDIBLE: Ability to follow and give verbal instructions.
- KNOWLEDGE/TRAINING: Requires good written and verbal communication, math and computer skills, and 90 days of on-the-job training
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Food Manufacturing experience is preferred
- PHYSICAL: Requires walking/standing 90% of time and sitting 10% of time, bending, stooping, crouching and reaching approximately 50% of time and lifting up to 50lbs.
- Communicate effectively in English and Spanish preferred
- ENVIRONMENTAL: Requires the ability to perform the essential job functions while working in a plant environment with limited climate control and exposure to noise from machinery.
