This position requires the ability to perform skilled, semi-skilled, complex and specialized work involving planning, installing, troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining electrical components in the facilities of the City of Burlington. The Maintenance Electrician will follow regulations and procedures for safe, efficient and thorough electrical installation and maintenance as regulated by the National Electrical Code, the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries and the City of Burlington. This position works under direct supervision of the Sewer Department Supervisor, and includes some duties related to fiber optics installation and assessments..
Accrued vacation, sick leave; 11 paid holidays plus two personal holidays,medical, dental, and vision insurance, PERS retirement.

Qualifications
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: The following generally describes the knowledge and ability required to qualify for the position and/or demonstrate within the first six months in order to successfully perform the assigned duties. Knowledge of: • Electrical circuits, wiring, and operating principles of varied electrical equipment • Nation electrical Code and regulations of Washington State Department of Labor and Industries. • Codes and ordinances pertaining to electrical and mechanical installation. • Reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and written reference material. Ability to: • Perform mathematical calculations. • Diagnose and resolve problems. • Use hand and power tools. • Identify code deficiencies and take corrective measures. • Work effectively and productively with others. • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing. • Respond to emergency calls as needed. • Establish and maintain effective working relationships. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: • High school diploma required. • Minimum of five (4) years as an electrician, electrician’s helper/apprentice, technician or millwright performing maintenance at a water/wastewater treatment plant, processing facility or equivalent industrial setting. • Must possess (or have the ability to obtain within six months) a valid Washington State Driver’s License. • Must possess (or have the ability to obtain within six months) valid CPR/First Aid card. • Confined Space Certificate or ability to obtain within six (6) months.
