SOUTH CONGRESS HOTEL is hiring for F&B GENERAL MANAGER
The living room for the neighborhood, South Congress Hotel is an 83-room boutique hotel designed to be a hub of activity for the community. A place for travelers and locals alike, the hotel has three restaurants, a coffee + bakeshop, rooftop pool, award-winning Lobby Bar, and two retail spaces, in addition to a range of community events + programming open to all. All locally owned, all right at the doorstep of Austin's favorite street.
JOB OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Director of Operations, the General Manager will be accountable for all aspects of the day-to-day operations, including the direct supervision of all staff for Cafe No Se, Lobby Bar, Pool Bar, and hotel in-room dining. The General Manager will be trusted to make key decisions on staffing, ongoing programming, sales and marketing efforts, and overall guest experience. A successful General Manager will bring a strong sense of pride and ownership to the outlet and be proactive in their understanding of, and input on, the operational plans and budgets. This is an entrepreneurial role where one must have the skills to maximize the benefit of the resources available and build a strong culture of service and hospitality.
What you'll do:
- Work closely with the South Congress Hotel Executive Committee to understand and develop the business plan
- Have a thorough understanding of services, amenities, and offerings and oversee the planning and pricing of menus items
- Create and support a cooperative and collaborative work environment where employees work productively and develop professionally
- Develop a strong understanding of financial statements and actively manage financial goals and targets; maintain budgets and optimize expense structures
- Design strategy and set goals for growth
- Maintain appropriate databases and review payroll records for appropriate personnel
- Provide leadership and management support to staff while overseeing day-to-day operations
- Initiate, implement, understand, and analyze accounting procedures to include: labor forecasts, inventory procedures, financial forecasting, annual budgeting procedures, payroll, and month-end analysis
- Administer and train on progressive discipline policies and procedures
- Have a thorough understanding involving the maintenance of the property
- Coordinate the weekly work schedule of all personnel
- Oversee the recruitment and training of new team members; responsible for planning, documenting, implementing, and monitoring department training programs
- Oversee the entire guest experience, from pre-arrival through departure; review, understand, and follow up on guests' needs
- Ensure that all staff is delivering the level of service in accordance with the New Waterloo standard operating procedures
