Job Description
Baylor Trucking, a subsidiary of Werner Enterprises, is looking to add a load planner to their team.
The purpose and primary mission of the Load Planner is to utilize the Manhattan optimization software to efficiently service our customer freight and driver needs. The Load Planner will be responsible for maintaining constant communication with Customer Service and Driver Support. Excellence in service to on-time pickup and delivery, capacity projections, and timely placement of drivers to special request locations is expected of this position.
Responsibilities:
  • Communicate via turnover procedure and forms to extended coverage (night, weekend, etc.)
  • Create daily capacity numbers in detail for current day and the next 5 days after.
  • Attend new employee orientation at Baylor Trucking
  • Effectively use Hemispheres and Capacity Creator to identify potential utilization issues and solve for them.
  • Become fluent in the VHOS suite of products.
  • Mentoring with an experienced Driver Manager, Planner, and Customer Service associate
  • Provide timely, accurate, and thorough communication to the appropriate members of the Driver Management and Customer Service teams.
  • Maintain accurate trailer pools at customer locations. Communicate pool needs with managers and customer service.
  • Effectively use Hemispheres and Capacity Creator to identify potential service issues and solve for them.
  • Maintain current and accurate data in the AS400.
  • Complete training in Manhattan Optimization tools (Hemispheres, VHOS, and Capacity Creator)
Qualifications:
  • Strong typing skills of at least 35-40 wpm.
  • Two to three years customer service experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate with internal and external customers in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Excellent decision making skills in logistical planning.
  • Knowledge of U.S. geography.
  • Knowledge of D.O.T. regulations with regards to the trucking industry.
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing, Management, or Transportation/Logistics, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Two to three years transportation experience preferred.
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • One to two years AS400 or P.C. experience preferred.
