This position is located remotely (within the state of California). We are flexible provided you are open to traveling to the Oakland office locations as needed.

About Your Work
This role reports directly to the Chief Legal Officer, the Legal Operations manager will provide comprehensive leadership to the enterprise in a wide range of complex initiatives including board related work, contract and litigation management, management of the insurance program as well as other Compliance & Legal team initiatives. This role acts as the co-lead of the contracting center of excellence and is the primary lead for the preparation of Board (CAG) material, meeting minutes and subcommittees. This role manages a high volume of activities requiring significant prioritization and independence. Reviewing complex documents, legal processes and organizing systems are part of the role.


You Will Focus On

  • Lead BTP insurance program including the review of existing policies, gathering data points and preparing all related broker submissions.
  • Manage new hire onboarding process for the legal department.
  • Act as the liaison between BTP’s business functions and the legal department to ensure close partnership and alignment on issues related to contract and litigation management.
  • Primary lead for operational management with the aim of reducing spend, maximizing value and improving predictability, all while improving the quality of outside legal representation.
  • Identify training opportunities, facilitate education on best practices and help create department-specific guidelines and policies.
  • Works independently on projects from conception to completion and must be able to work under pressure at times to handle a wide variety of activities and confidential matters with discretion.
  • Organizes and prepares materials for clinical advisory group and/or related subcommittee meeting, as well as special corporate meetings. Owner of board vantage.
  • Manage relationships with CAG members.
  • Coordinate bi-weekly CLO staff meetings
  • Co-Lead the Contracting Center of Excellence building upon current processes, working closely with leaders in the organization to streamline, gain efficiencies and lower external spend.
  • Lead legal technology initiatives and be responsible for records management and eDiscovery.

The Skills And Experience You Bring:

  • Three (3) to five (5) + years of litigation and outside counsel management experience

  • Highly proficient software application skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), other office productivity tools (email, calendaring, desktop publishing and database management).
  • Demonstrate excellent ability to work well cross-functionally, in a professional, efficient, completely discrete and highly confidential manner.
  • Ten (10) + years of legal operation experience
  • Two (2) + years of contract enhancement or vendor management
  • Demonstrated strong ability to develop, organize, and implement legal office procedures and systems.
  • Demonstrated strong team player with strong interpersonal skills who partners well with people at all levels, develops and preserves positive relationships across the organization while juggling multiple/complex demands.
  • Demonstrated excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and able to work effectively and routinely needing to multi-task with little or no direction or supervision in a fast-paced environment.

  • Bachelor’s degree with an accredited college or university or equivalent of 10-12 years in related field plus some college.
