As Legal Counsel you will provide wide-ranging legal counsel to the business and operations activities of the Americas Business Unit (BU) through pro-active and effective legal support, and under the supervision and mentoring of a Senior Legal Counsel.

The Legal Counsel, by having excellent drafting and negotiation skills and business sense, shall cover contracts qualifications, active contracts negotiations, as well as providing support, in coordination with the other relevant functions, to insurance, trade control and anti-corruption compliance activities.

In addition, you will provide legal expertise and leadership to other functions and departments within the Americas BU such as Procurement, Subcontracting, Finance & Tax, Administration, Tendering, etc. and advise peers and management on legal risks and business strategy.

The Legal Counsel shall ensure that his/her scope, as well as the activities of the BU to which he/she participates, are carried out in compliance with the applicable Company’s rules and standards and shall be responsible to champion and implement all relevant procedures and processes to such effect.

You will be able to work both independently and as part of various teams and to take on special projects and assignments in addition to the daily job.

Main challenges:

• Multitasking on various concurrent tenders, projects and assignments
• Numerous internal and external interfaces, requiring a flexible and multidisciplinary approach
• Work on complex energy projects, requiring proven experience with engineering and construction projects and an understanding of their risks and mechanics, including subcontracting schemes, multi country execution, financing, insurance.

Job Accountabilities :

• Provide support on ethics & compliance issues, ensuring that the Company policies and procedures are adhered to.
• Assist with claims and disputes under the guidance of Senior Legal Counsel.
• Act as business partner vis a vis peers and management both within the legal function and other areas of the BU and the broader Company, providing legal advice and support, anticipating and managing legal risks associated with the business strategy and operations.
• Work with commercial and other internal teams in contracts negotiations with clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Review, qualify, draft and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts with domestic and international clients including NDAs, engineering service agreements, subcontracts, purchase orders, and other types of contractual documents and agreements generally used in the energy or construction industry in compliance with the Company contracting principles.

Profile:

Must Have

• Ability to deliver high-quality work under deadlines
• 5 to 7 years of similar legal experience in national or international top tier contractors or clients
• Ability to multitask
• Experience in the review, drafting, and negotiation of a variety of engineering and/or construction agreements
• Strong written (including contract/legal drafting) and oral communication skills in English
• Law Degree
• Ability to work effectively with people across a wide range of levels and responsibilities

Nice to have

• Experience in the renewable energy sector
• Experience in petrochemical industry
