Job Summary


Charles River Laboratories International, Inc. (Charles River or the Company) seeks an administrative professional to join the Legal Department working hybrid with occasional presence required at its Wilmington, Massachusetts headquarters. Reporting to the Senior Legal Office Lead, the Legal Administrator will be primarily responsible for supporting the global Legal Compliance (I-Comply) program, while providing backup support for the general Corporate Legal Department as well.


The successful candidate should have experience in administrative support, project management, system reporting and data analysis, be an effective communicator, and have the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in Legal and diverse functional and operational areas throughout the company (such as HR, Finance, Global Technology, and other business areas). The person filling this position must have the ability to analyze complex situations, develop and communicate plans of action, assist with the execution of reporting and data analysis, and handle highly confidential information and documents.


Essential Duties And Responsibilities


  • Data Reporting and Analysis: Support standard and ad hoc Legal Compliance data reporting and analysis, including production of reports and advanced data analysis with respect to key Legal Compliance processes.
  • Systems Administration: Provide day-to-day management of key Legal Compliance systems, including but not limited to systems for training (Talent Hub Learning), third-party due diligence, policy management and incident management.
  • Legal Department Administrative Support: Serve as a Legal Department point of contact for all incoming department mail, maintain sensitive department files and records, review and route legal invoices, and provide assistance/coordination in planning and scheduling department-related meetings and activities.
  • Legal Compliance Leadership and Support: Serves as a key resource at Charles Rivers for the Legal Compliance program and will be expected to manage additional matters, projects and initiatives with key stakeholders, including serving as a point of contact for our global Legal Compliance Liaisons, RMLs and senior leaders.


Job Qualifications


Education:


  • Associate’s Degree (A.A./A.S.) at a minimum; B.A./B.S. preferred


Experience:


  • Experience in a team-based organization
  • Experience at a publicly-traded company and/or in life sciences or related industry sector is a plus
  • One to three (1-3) years of professional office experience, preferably in a corporate legal department


Other Qualifications:


  • Ability to navigate diverse business, cultural, and interpersonal environments
  • Intermediate to advanced MS Office skills
  • Strong organizational and project management skills (including project planning)
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work product
  • Analytical skills and the ability to demonstrate critical thinking
  • Ability to balance and effectively prioritize numerous projects covering a variety of subject matters
  • Excellent quantitative skills necessary to extract and analyze both hard and soft data
  • Ability to communicate effectively and build strong working partnerships with key stakeholders


Physical Demands:


  • Regularly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Must occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Regularly provides information to and receives information from/through various technologies, media sources, and contacts. Must be able to accurately exchange information in these situations.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
  • General office working conditions.

  • This role can be in-office or hybrid.


Compensation Data


The pay range for this position is $60,000 to $70,000. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, and location.
