Raytheon Technologies Pasadena is looking for a Junior Linux System Administrator to join a team of SAs supporting customers located at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

Job duties may include, and are not limited to:

The installation, configuration, and maintenance of:

• Security vulnerability remediation and system migrations
• Opensource and commercially available Linux services, applications, and technologies
• Storage (NAS or SAN, NFS, samba).
• Monitoring systems and responding to incidents (at times during off-hours)
• Implementing patches and software and firmware updates
• Documenting processes, procedures, and technical walkthroughs
• RHEL-compatible operating systems (RHEL, Oracle Linux)
• Enterprise infrastructure (switches, storage devices, SAN and NAS devices)
• Working with existing backup solutions to perform data backup/restoration
• Working with Windows and Mac OS and equipment
• Physical and virtual machines (servers, VMware ESXi VMs, cloud instances)
• Customer support via on-site visits, phone calls, emails, and ticketing systems

Required Skills

• Understand the patching process for Linux
• Working knowledge with Linux command line
• Ability to install software based on instructions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge and ability to work with (move/install) equipment common to computing environments (i.e. printers, computer racks, storage devices, workstations, networking equipment including cables, etc.)
• Two or more years of recent and uninterrupted experience as a Linux System Administrator preferably using RedHat, other Linux variants are fine

Desired Skills

• Scripting (Bash, Python, PHP, etc.
• Cloud Platforms (AWS preferred)

This position requires a U.S. Person who is eligible to obtain any required Export Authorization

Education and Experience

Typicall, Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of two years of experience demonstrating technical, communication, and development skills. May substitute experience for education.

The salary range for this role is 68,000 USD - 136,000 USD; however, Raytheon Technologies considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
