Job Description
Role: Junior Linux System Administrator
Client: Raytheon Technologies/JPL
Location: Pasadena, CA (Hybrid)
Must be a United States Person to apply

Raytheon Technologies Pasadena is looking for a Junior Linux System Administrator to join a team of SAs supporting customers located at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Physical and virtual machines (servers, VMware ESXi VMs, cloud instances)
  • RHEL-compatible operating systems (RHEL, Oracle Linux)
  • The selected candidate will be required to work on-site at the customer location in Pasadena, CA 2-4 times a week
  • Security vulnerability remediation and system migrations
  • The installation, configuration, and maintenance of:
    • enterprise infrastructure (switches, storage devices, SAN and NAS devices)
    • physical and virtual machines (servers, VMware ESXi VMs, cloud instances)
    • RHEL-compatible operating systems (RHEL, Oracle Linux)
    • opensource and commercially available Linux services, applications, and technologies
  • Documenting processes, procedures, and technical walkthroughs
  • Monitoring systems and responding to incidents (at times during off-hours)
  • Enterprise infrastructure (switches, storage devices, SAN and NAS devices)
  • Customer support via on-site visits, phone calls, emails, and ticketing systems
  • Implementing new and working with existing backup solutions to perform data backup/restoration
  • Opensource and commercially available Linux services, applications, and technologies
Required Skills:
  • Two or more years of recent and uninterrupted experience as a Linux System Administrator preferably using RedHat, other Linux variants are fine
  • Understand the patching process for Linux
  • Ability to install software based on instructions.
  • Working knowledge with Linux command line
  • Knowledge and ability to work with (move/install) equipment common to computing environments (i.e. printers, computer racks, storage devices, workstations, networking equipment including cables, etc.)
Desired Skills:
  • Cloud Platforms (AWS preferred)
  • Scripting (Bash, Python, PHP, etc.)
Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree with a minimum of two years of experience demonstrating technical, communication, and development skills. May substitute experience for education.
