Junior Associate, Media Relations, Tech

Weber Shandwick is seeking an ambitious and detail-oriented Junior Associate for its New York office who wants to be part of a dedicated and engaged team that creates smart marketing and communications solutions for clients. Our dynamic, integrated account teams deliver breakthrough ideas, innovative programs and executional excellence – all of which result in superlative client experiences and longstanding relationships.
Responsibilities
Media and Writing

• Proof and edit client related documents as needed
• Contribute to the development of strategic client plans
• Develop deep knowledge of industry events and conduct outreach for client speaker's bureau
• Draft media relations materials including media lists and qualify media inquires
• Brainstorm and pitch compelling ideas for media and influencer pitch efforts

Client and Team Engagement

• Proactively generate new ideas and opportunities to ensure client program success
• Serve as key team member and engage in client / team meetings and brainstorms
• Provide thoughts and suggestions on tactical matters, linked to strategic plans

Administrative Support

• Perform other administrative tasks as assigned
• Track brands in traditional and social media and report results
• Track/enter time with precision and on a day-to-day basis
• Assist in event coordination and logistics

Basic Qualifications:

• Interest in innovative service & technology
• Related professional experience, PR agency preferred
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Available to work full-time, 40 hrs/week

Additional Qualifications:

• Strong time management skills and attention to detail
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Team player
• Familiarity with Cision and other PR tools
• Self-starter who accepts “ownership” of their own work but can also take direction
• Results-oriented

NYC Salary range: $42,000 - $42,000
Where an employee or prospective employee is paid within this range will depend on, among other factors, actual ranges for current/former employees in the subject position; market considerations; budgetary considerations; tenure and standing with the company (applicable to current employees); as well as the employee’s/applicant’s background, pertinent experience, and qualifications.
