Job Description
The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB), School of Medicine - Office of Information Services is currently recruiting for an IT Technician, User & Support Services position. This position will provide advanced level remote and local system user desktop support affecting multiple types of endpoint computing devices.

Essential Functions:
  • Assist with development of customer-facing documentation to assist with use of user technologies.
  • Provide support to customers utilizing video conferencing systems. Assist with troubleshooting problems with audio/video, recommend the appropriate solution for the proposed event.
  • Provide physical installation of computer equipment at customer location. Prepare desktop equipment for deployment and install operating system and a variety of software based on user area of responsibility.
  • Serve as secondary contact & support for user technology management software solutions. Respond to and troubleshoot issues as they occur in order to resolve or prevent user issues. Diagnose technical issues and seek resolution.
  • Track and maintain records of computer equipment by documenting hardware and related deployment details.
  • Create and manage Active Directory objects to include accounts, groups, organizational units, and group policy objects. Leverage Active Directory objects to configure appropriate file/data access rights and troubleshoot related issues.
  • Perform software, hardware, and other peripheral configuration, installation, repair, and maintenance for end users. Hardware supported includes desktops, laptops, mobile devices, etc. Assist in the support of virtual desktops, software, and related equipment.
  • Coordinate updates of antivirus, patch, and other asset deployment management to user devices
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Assist with user technology related IT security implementation tasks under the guidance of the Security Compliance team.
Qualifications

Education: Bachelors in computer science, information technology, or a related field of study.

Experience: One (1) year of experience with the types of hardware and software to be supported.

Supervisory Experience: N/A

Certification/Licensure: N/A

Other: May consider a combination of directly related experience and education.
Hiring Range: $65 - $70K (Commensurate with education and experience)
