Duties and Responsibilities
  • ** Overall management of the Student Housing system and all related integrated applications to effectively support and administer the systems in preparation for processing Student Housing applicants’ requests timely per the schedule associated with each new term within the school year.
  • ** Develop and prepare reports/data extracts from the respective applications to support Student Housing management and staffs’ operational requirements.
  • Occasionally expected to work on evening and weekends.
  • ** Manage the administration of user access (roles and permissions), application configuration changes, cybersecurity considerations and adherence to internal policies to ensure the University's data and application environment does not get compromised; create structure and develop processes as needed.
  • ** Trains personnel in the use of Student Housing systems; ensure training materials are updated and current.
  • ** Ensure all systems and databases are running on scheduled backups for recovery purposes.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • ** Engage with ITS for resources and subject matter expertise to ensure system requirements have adequate bandwidth and the telecom infrastructure can support Student Housing staff and residences needs.
  • ** Ensure that the Student Housing website, core housing application, new development, new releases/updates, and system integration initiatives align with business and functional requirements in collaboration with key business stakeholders.
  • Participate in budgetary requirements and management of spending.
  • Apply Project Management SDLC disciplines when coordinating, implementing, testing and deploying new hardware/software.
  • ** Optimize workflows and process re-engineering requirements leveraging technology.
  • ** Apply automated scripts and secure/scheduled file transfers at integration points to minimize manual intervention.
  • ** Create and maintain systems documentation, user guides and cheat sheets.
  • ** Manage relationships and collaborate with respective 3rd party vendors, central Information Technology Services (ITS) resources and the Student Housing leadership team to ensure understanding of their business requirements, enhancements and deliverables
  • ** Manage and provide desktop support including inventory of hardware, software licenses, secured access to data and the UH network.
**Denotes Essential Functions

Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience with managing 3rd party vendors to ensure upkeep of applications and infrastructure.
  • Possession of a pertinent baccalaureate educational degree in Computer Science and other course work in fields related to the programs or systems and 3 years of progressively responsible professional information technology experience with responsibilities for the design of electronic computer programs or any equivalent combination of education and experience, of which 2 years of the experience must have been comparable in scope and complexity to the next lower payband in the University of Hawai'i broadband system; or equivalent education/training or experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals.
  • Experience with creating user guides and providing training to end users.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
  • Experience with generating data extracts and reports for analysis by business units’ employees.
  • Considerable working knowledge and understanding of the broad technology, systems, hardware and software associated with applications, interfaces and databases.
  • Considerable working knowledge of application support, web and content management and coding practices as demonstrated by the broad knowledge and understanding of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving information technology concepts, principles and methodology.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, key stakeholders, Student Housing employees, and other users of Student Housing computer services and facilities.
  • Experience with desktop installations, connectivity and overall support.
  • General knowledge of API’s, automated scripts, and leveraging SFTP to integrate with other systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of data security disciplines and overall information technology cybersecurity best practices.
  • For supervisory work, demonstrated ability to lead subordinates, manage work priorities and projects, and manage employee relations.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize a wide range of intricate problems, use reasoning and logic to determine accurate causes, and apply principles and practices to determine, evaluate, integrate, and implement practical and thorough solutions in an effective and timely manner.
  • Experience managing large scale applications and related system integration points that are in alignment with functional requirements.
  • Possesses excellent communication skills.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Ability to plan, lay out, and direct the work of professional and technical subordinates.
  • Experience with Student Housing systems in a higher education environment.
