Job Description

Provides courteous professional service to all Town technology users, serving as one of the most visible faces of the Information Technology Department, so that they can efficiently provide services to the community. Responsible for resolving all technology problems to successful conclusion, consulting with Field and Systems/Network Engineers as needed, to provide superb customer service.

Examples of responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Installs new computers and peripherals, and troubleshoots, and resolves all technology support needs for all computers and associated peripherals, and devices, such as desktop and laptop computers, VOIP telephones, printers, copiers, scanners, Wi-Fi, smartphones.
  • Assists end users in the use of ordinary desktop applications such as the Microsoft Office Professional, online meeting software, common desktop software products, municipal software, and Police and Fire Department applications and equipment, etc.
  • Supports and advocates Microsoft operating systems and desktop applications, and utilizes Microsoft deployment tools to deliver consistent, secure, reliable computing devices to all Town departments, including Police and Fire Departments, and the Regional Police and Fire Dispatch Center (but does not include the school system).
  • Maintains complete and accurate inventory of all computers, laptops, printers, scanners, and copiers to ensure appropriate software licensing and inclusion in a replacement cycle.
  • Train Responds to urgent Police and Fire issues outside of normal business days/hours.
  • Trains, supervises, and effectively utilizes high school and college-level seasonal technical support staff.
  • Backs up the Information Technology Field Engineer and Library Technologist as needed.

Qualifications

Demonstrates courtesy, professionalism, cheerfulness, helpfulness at all times – our goal is to delight our clients. Demonstrated experience in the installation and troubleshooting of computers, peripherals, and software in a modern technology environment. Ability to work as a team member and independently to brainstorm solutions to complex problems. Desire and ability to learn and become highly proficient in various municipal software systems. Excellent interpersonal skills and writing skills; communicates with co-workers and clients effectively both verbally and in writing.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must pass CJIS background check as is required to support certain Police Department systems.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license in order to operate a vehicle as necessary to the satisfactory performance of assigned duties at various sites within the Town.
  • Associates degree or equivalent from a community or technical college and one year of directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of three years’ experience and training.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Undergraduate degree from an accredited university in a computer science, technical, mathematical, engineering, or scientific field.
  • Certifications in Microsoft operating systems and applications.
  • CompTIA A+ Certification
  • Experience with enterprise-grade network equipment, VoIP telephones, SQL databases.
