Investment Banking Associate, Media & Communications

Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation is hiring an Associate to provide analytical and sector support to the senior members of the Media & Communications Group within the Bank's Corporate & Investment Banking Coverage Group. This role will support relationship managers ("RM") with marketing efforts for both existing and prospective clients, begin managing client relationships and generate new business as a supporting RM, engage in new client prospecting, assist in managing assigned client relationships with regard to ongoing servicing and in the cross sell effort.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare pitch books for prospects and existing accounts in order to deepen and expand relationships
• Prepare industry sector trends, valuation analysis and capital structure analysis for potential pitches to clients
• Monitor and evaluate current events related to the Media & Communications sector
• Support due diligence processes, participate in day-to-day deal execution of deals and support the administrative activities of executing transactions
• Work with Relationship Managers to prepare pitch books related to client marketing
• Analyze corporate or project-level financial statements to ascertain credit worthiness of borrowers and quality of collateral
• Provide support in executing transactions from beginning to closing including building and maintaining financial models and spreadsheets in Excel

Qualifications:

• Strong knowledge of applicable bank regulations as well as internal Bank procedures and controls
• Strong financial modeling/valuation and analytical skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Knowledge of corporate finance and accounting and experience analyzing company financials
• BA/BA in Accounting, Finance, or Economics
• 2-5 years of relevant banking experience
• Demonstrates a high degree of attention to detail and an ability to complete work accurately and in a timely manner against strict deadlines
