Department Overview

IT supports the Gas and Electric Control Centers by improving service quality, increasing capabilities through the development of additional functionality, implementing new technology, reducing costs, increasing productivity, and facilitating organizational and business effectiveness through enabling technologies.

Position Summary

PG&E is seeking an experienced IT System Engineer for the DERMS application platform. A strong applicant will be an expert on Hybrid

Cloud environments and API integrations. The role will participate in the DERMS project implementation activities and future maintenance and support responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

• Project activities:

o Build and deploy DERMS platform components in Hybrid Cloud environments (Azure and On-prem).

o Enable DERMS interfaces between Cloud and On-prem using APIs and ESFT over secure communications.

o Work with infrastructure team to enable end to end connectivity, including firewalls and load balancers.

o Participate in product testing and platform documentation.

o Design and deploy enhancements to existing systems ensuring compatibility and interoperability.

• Maintenance & Support activities:

o Provide primary technology support for the DERMS platform.

o Manage and deploy vendor application updates (patches, hotfixes) along with system level upgrades.

o Manage and support data refresh and application configurations for production and non-production environments.

o Operate/Maintain system integrations - DERMS Exporter / Weather API / GIS API / ADMS API / Apigee Gateway / ESFT

Qualification:

Minimum:

• BA/BS in Computer Science, Business, or equivalent experience

• 5 years of programming analysis experience.

• Expert with operation or management of Hybrid Cloud environments – AWS or Azure Cloud / IPSec VPN / ExpressRoute / Windows Server Virtual Machine

• Experience managing application certificates and authentication/authorization mechanisms

• PKI (Public Key Infrastructure) – Device certificate

• API integration experience – REST API / Application Gateway (Apigee) or MuleSoft / Real time APIs

Desired:

• At least 1-2 years Electric utility background (distribution or transmission systems preferred)

• Awareness and good familiarity with tools / applications regularly used by electric distribution or transmission system Operators, Operating Engineers, and Planning Engineers such as: SCADA, Outage Management System (OMS), Distribution Management System (DMS), Power Flow modeling tools (e.g., CYME), Geographic Information System (GIS), operational data historian (e.g., OSISoft Pi)

• Familiar with Utility applications and APIs – ADMS / GIS / Network Model / ICCP / IEEE 2030.5, CSIP 2.1

• Experience working in Agile / Scrum environment.

• Ability to be creative, versatile, efficient, and productive in the face of ambiguity

• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to work in a collaborative environment and

interact with all levels of management within the Business, IT groups besides the application Vendor
