Job Description

The Human Resources Service Specialist I is responsible for providing superior service to internal customers and the HR department by providing administrative support on a variety of HR related duties.
Major Duties And Responsibilities (essential Functions)
Possesses a strong connection to the values of First United Bank. Demonstrates values daily and holds others to the same standards.
  • Displays a positive attitude toward the bank, employees, and policy and procedures.
  • Promotes teamwork, cooperation, and collaboration.
  • Acts with a strong sense of integrity in all situations.
Compelled to serve others and satisfy internal customer needs.
  • Manages the HR group email account and ensures established service level agreements are met.
  • Assists hiring managers in posting and editing job requisitions.
  • Answers incoming phone calls and emails.
  • Prepares written correspondence from HR department.
  • Delivers first line of support to all internal customers, which involves answering questions and concerns.
Ensures operating policies and procedures (compliance requirements, audit requirements, etc.) are met – sets a high standard of integrity and possess a strong sense of ownership.
  • Administers Employee Referral Program.
  • Assigns bank keys to new employees.
  • Complies with all bank policies, procedures, and regulations pertaining to employment law.
  • Verifies I-9 documentation and maintains I-9 files.
  • Processes employment verifications for current and former employees.
  • Maintains accurate data in Workday by processing all employee changes – terminations, promotions, salary changes, etc.
Creates an atmosphere of trust and support.
  • Supports HR Leadership Team with various projects and day-to-day tasks as needed.
Participates in HR departmental goals, objectives, and projects to ensure an effective, sustainable, people strategy over the long-term.
Participates in staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.
Additional Duties And Responsibilities
  • Adherence to all First United Policies and Procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
  • Recommends to supervisor possible methods to improve department.
  • Handles confidential and non-routine information.
  • Completes all required compliance exams on a yearly basis.

Education And Work Experience
  • Two or more years of HR or experience or training preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality guidelines. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Dependable and adheres to time lines and schedules.
  • Demonstrates good judgment and strong attention to detail.
