Job Description

Objective:

The HR Generalist, under the direct supervision of the Sr. Director, Total Rewards, serves as administrator for several critical human resource functions and workforce management including, but not limited to, recruiting, employee relations, health and safety, compensation, benefits, training, diversity, employee engagement, payroll/HRIS, leave management and employee records.


The HR Generalist facilitates and communicates policies and programs and ensures compliance with state and federal laws and regulations. They will provide internal support and partnership to employees and the HR Team.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Handle all administrative tasks for onboarding, new-hire orientations, and exit interviews, including data entry in human resources information systems (HRIS) and audits for accuracy and compliance
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Be the primary backup for payroll processing, including biweekly and semimonthly updates to employee files, bonus/incentive pay, vacation/sick pay, expense reimbursements, hourly-employee validations, and benefits changes
  • Assists with reviewing, tracking, and documenting compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
  • Assists with the coordination of new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
  • Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to talent acquisition compensation, benefits, and leave; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.

  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.

Experience:

  • At least one year of human resource management experience preferred.
  • Certification in Human Resources a plus.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field
