Job Description

We are a growing human services agency, helping families and individuals in all stages of homelessness. We are 35 employees strong, and passionate about fighting homelessness, eviction and food insecurity.


We have a perfect position for an energetic HR professional who would enjoy doing HR generalist work for this caring, supportive organization. This position is for a “people-person” who likes all aspects of HR.

The Work…

This new position will report directly to the Executive Director, and will play a crucial role in the follow vital aspects of our organization’s growth:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for recruiting, employee relations, HR administration inquiries, benefit administration, HR platform/HRIS system management (such as, unemployment, employment verification, leave and benefit administration, inquiries from employees and vendors/systems).
  • Support agency initiatives related to employee engagement, diversity, equity and inclusion, human resource processes and best practices.
  • Work with managers and Executive Director on employee relations issues.
  • Ensure HR Platform/HRIS is being optimized and all of its functions, proper coding and accuracy.
  • Provide quarterly updates and metrics of HR data such as trends of exit interviews and check-ins, turnover, etc.
  • Maintain the administrative functions of HR such as documentation related to hiring/promotion/salary increases, emergency contact list, updated job descriptions, and organizational chart.
  • Support finance with bi-weekly employee payroll in an accurate and timely manner.
  • With support from the Executive Director, amend and manage policies relating to all employees and associated communication roll-out.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable labor, wage and hour laws, regulations, and reporting deadlines.
  • Manage, maintain and follow-through of the performance management process and ensure applicable increases are processed.
  • Manage the employee off-boarding process, including exit interview, benefit terminations, etc.
  • Manage the employee leave administration.
  • Manage the full life cycle of recruiting for SHC including but not limited to: managing the internship program; work with staffing agencies on new/existing contracts; and, sourcing by creating a pipeline for applicants; holding and attending job fairs and interview days, posting roles, pre-screening, scheduling and conducting interviews with hiring managers.
  • Manage the onboarding process, including offer letters, background checks, online onboarding and benefits enrollment and partnering with the hiring manager to develop a strong onboarding experience.
  • Act as the employee benefits administrator and serve as the liaison between the organization and its benefits providers including managing the annual open enrollment process.


What You Should Bring to the Table…

  • A minimum of an Associate's Degree
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft office suite (Word, Outlook, Excel and Quickbooks) and ability to learn organization’s HRIS system
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Commitment to integrity, excellence, professionalism and confidentiality
  • At least 1 year HR experience, with some recruiting experience
  • Knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations
  • SHRM certification helpful
