As a chemicals supplier to almost all industries, BASF has established a standalone subsidiary dedicated to its Mobile Emissions Catalysts, Precious Metals Trading, Recycling, and related Products and Services business. The new group is referred to as BASF Environmental Catalyst and Metal Solutions and is wholly owned by BASF. BASF Environmental Catalyst and Metal Solutions operates globally in over 15 countries and comprise of approximately 20 production sites and over 4,000 employees.

We are seeking 2 experienced Human Resources Generalists at our Huntsville, Alabama site located at 9800 Kellner Road SW, Huntsville AL, 35824. This is the 4th largest of the Corporation's North American manufacturing locations and is the largest Mobile Emissions Clean Air Automotive Catalyst Site in the world. The Huntsville Site includes all support functions and dedicated separate production facilities that produce producing Light and Heavy Duty Catalytic Converters for the automotive manufacturers across the US as well as specialized clean air aerospace industry ozone reduction catalysts.

Reporting to the Site Human Resources Manager the incumbents will join the HR team dedicated to achieving Operation HR Excellence by serving as trusted and collaborative advisors supporting Site Leaders in assigned operations and functional areas of responsibility with onsite day-to-day HR business activities including employee relations, policy guidance interpretation and implementation, employee career development, and performance management. As a dedicated change agent and employee champion you will partner with Site Operational and Functional Leadership and Employees to provide comprehensive Human Resources services including employee data systems and ADP payroll support, counseling, coaching and guidance while ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and BASF policies.

  • Within assigned areas of responsibility drive operational excellence through comprehensive HR expertise, executing key administrative Site end to end HR processes and activities and active collaboration with other Site colleagues responsible for various people centric roles, initiatives, and programs.
  • Support the Site HR Manager to ensure effective, consistent and compliant execution of key Site HR processes including annual remuneration reviews, performance incentive processes and employee career and progression.
  • Acting as change agent and employee champion through effectively supporting Site leaders to build trust and resolve employee HR related problems, support for D&I initiatives, actively support ERGs, driving employee engagement initiatives including Employee Surveys to foster an inclusive work culture and advocating for equitable employee diversity across all levels.
  • Support and conduct as required local industry remuneration, benefits, and employment surveys, prepare and present analysis of data and make recommendations to ensure market competitiveness.
  • As a member of the Site HR Team assume ownership for HR projects, have a thorough understanding of all relevant Policies, conduct proactive reviews of processes and policies, propose amendments for consideration and develop supplementary Site specific HR guidelines to ensure role clarity and consistency.
  • Collaborate with and support HR COEs in Talent Acquisition, Compensation and Benefits, Employee Data Management Systems and Performance Management and Talent processes, as well as external 3rd party HR providers including Payroll and Legal to ensure excellent delivery of HR services.
  • Liaise with Legal, Site HRM, and investigators to support internal investigations relating to employee misconduct or non-compliance, and guide Leaders to ensure consistent policy guided disciplinary actions.
  • As the HR Generalist for assigned areas of responsibility promote positive workplace relations through council to Leaders and Employees to ensure compliance with, and the consistent application of Company rules, policies, and processes, as well as effective guidance to enable the resolution of interpersonal or work-related problems and conflicts.
  • Where required support Leaders with organizational design, job design and outcomes- based job descriptions.
  • Proactively support and drive actions and change management initiatives for continuous improvement to support the Sites overall business objectives and achieve Site HR KPI’s.
  • Within the Regional and Local HR Framework of responsibilities perform assigned Site roles including Employee onboarding/offboarding, statutory reporting, performance management processes, employee systems data management, Payroll, and talent Acquisition support.
  • Collaboration with the Site Operations Training team colleagues to support Departmental Leaders with leadership and employee development planning, career progression, Talent Review preparation and succession planning.

Your formula for success……

  • Demonstrated competence working with modern HR Employee Data Management and Payroll systems, coupled to strong analytical skills.
  • Expertise and practical experience of day-to-day operational HR processes/functions, including employee relations, performance management, talent management, compensation, and HR policy development strongly preferred.
  • At least Five years of progressive practical and professional Human Resources Business Partner/Generalist/Specialist experience is required, ideally within a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrates strong internal and external customer service focus to build and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Strong operational experience in workplace coaching, facilitation, conflict management and relationship building skills in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • An understanding of Local and Federal employment laws and policies such as FLSA, FLMA, EEO, Workers Compensation is required.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in the field of Human Resources, Business Administration, or other related discipline is required.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of ability to communicate (verbal and written), interact, and influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong IT software knowledge particularly MS Office and HR data reporting systems such as Visier
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and administer a broad range of HR roles including modern HR information systems, facilitating the resolution of complaints, counseling managers and employees with the correct and consistent application of policies and procedures.
