Job Summary
At Charles Taylor, the Jr. HR Generalist will be working closely with all HR staff across the company to ensure they execute key people-initiatives in support of the business units such as Adjusting, TPA, Engineering and Technical Services and Casualty. The Jr. HR Generalist is also responsible for being familiar with state laws that would govern our own policies. Our successful candidate should have excellent communication skills, the ability to demonstrate initiative, and work across the HR team. In addition to these responsibilities, the Jr. HR generalist will be expected to report to the HR leadership on the below responsibilities.
Essential Functions
New Hire Onboarding and General Orientation
- Ensure manager introduces new hire to others on their team for potential mentoring
- Ensure timing of employee orientation is in sync with IT equipment arrival, and the employee’s first day
- Thoroughly introduce new staff to CT culture, processes, values, and all available resources
- Coordinate all prehire activities with the recruiting team and hiring manager
Payroll and Operations Support
- Ensure employee submissions and system changes are updated in HR databases
- Ensuring payroll OT for non-exempt staff is accurate and submitted within our pay cycle timeframes
- Support HR system usage for managers and staff
- Work collaboratively with our HR Operations team to ensure ticketing is submitted and timeframes are met as requested and any back-end issues are escalated appropriately
Reward
- Provide support to the Finance team during the reward/bonuses process throughout the year
Learning and Development Support
- Support HR team with talent management and performance management /review cycle
- Help support health and well-being strategy as appropriate for the US staff
- Provide US perspectives on DE&I initiatives and provide input as required
- Support employee engagement initiatives including analysis of survey data, and ERG events
Employee Relations
- Work closely with HR Lead on intake of employee relations matters to conclusion
- Ensure manager is kept abreast or each stage of disciplinary action from verbal warning through termination
- Ensure documentation is maintained and reported on HR tracking sites
Project Work
- Willingness to help other HR team members with any aspect needed to complete a task
- Support miscellaneous projects as assigned such as updates to policies, HR Service Center changes, payroll, and operations updates
Requirements
- 3+ years of HR experience in multiple areas (i.e., payroll, compensation, operations etc.)
- Strong attention to detail especially when working with data and payroll
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, organizational development, or similar program
- Ability to work through problems until resolved
- Strong knowledge of state and federal employment laws and practices
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite programs; Excel & Powerpoint and other databases a plus
