Job Description

Human Resources Director


Location: Pittsburgh, PA

Salary: $90,000 - $105,000 annually, plus bonus

Schedule: Hybrid - 2 days work from home, 3 days in-office weekly


Summary:

The Human Resources Director will lead and direct the functions of the Human Resources (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices.


Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to understand the organization’s goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.
  • Communicate with executive team, managers, and supervisors regarding personnel practices, policy, and employment laws.
  • Plan, lead, develop, coordinate, and implement policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organization’s human resource compliance and strategy needs.
  • Administer or oversee the administration of benefits, ensuring they are competitive and in line with the company's financial standing.
  • Ensure compliance with employment, benefits, insurance, safety, and other laws, regulations, and requirements.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Lead the development of department goals, objectives, and systems.
  • Handle workplace conflict resolution as it arises, mediating discussions between employees and managers when necessary.
  • Direct and support the implementation and management of company policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Administer or oversee the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; and training and development.
  • Promote a healthy work culture and environment.
  • Oversee the recruitment process from job requisition to onboarding, ensuring the organization attracts, hires, and retains the best employees.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Strong understanding of the interviewing process, benefits administration, payroll, and other HR functions.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
  • A minimum of 4 years in human resources required along with a background in a multifaceted role at a smaller company.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, HRIS systems, and comfortable learning new technical systems as needed.
