The Opportunity: The HR Consultant works directly with Exude HC clients to provide expert consultation, coaching, and direct project work. This opportunity may also serve Exude HC clients as an interim HR resource and/or work on internal Exude HC projects. Our consultants are deeply committed to exceeding client and division expectations around HR practices, policy development, employment law, and compliance. Whether managing one or multiple clients, this role excels in prioritizing work, being a creative problem solver, proactively communicating with stakeholders, and delivering quality solutions.

The Role: This is a contract role that requires consultants to work on-site hours as needed at client locations in Philadelphia and surrounding areas. The HR Consultant will operate both in the strategic space as well as dive into tactical HR work. This position has access to sensitive employer and employee information and is expected to handle such information with integrity, grace and professionalism. They work with a wicked smart, authentic team of Exude HC consultants, operations, marketing, and other professionals to drive our growth strategy and have a blast doing it along the way.

Key Functions:

HR Generalist/Consulting:

Interacts with clients to provide thoughtful and thorough responses to HR inquiries and accurately interprets HR policies, procedures, laws, standards, or regulations

Performs transactional HR tasks (COBRA, leave management, benefits administration, HR records management) and have familiarity with Payroll and HRIS systems

Addresses employee relations issues, such as harassment allegations, work complaints, or other employee concerns

Supports compensation, training, employee relations, conflict resolution, policy development and legal compliance

Maintains HR documents (organizational charts, employee handbooks, directories, performance evaluation forms)

Prepares or maintains employment records related to key events using HR management system software

Prepares reports, proposals, presentations, memos, letters and other documents

Researches and completes HR projects as necessary

Hiring/Talent Acquisition:

Performs searches for qualified job candidates and reviews employment applications to match job requirements

Selects qualified job applicants or refer them to managers, making hiring recommendations when appropriate

Conducts reference or background checks on job applicants

Hires employees including processing paperwork and informing job applicants of details such as duties and responsibilities, compensation, benefits, schedules, orientation, working conditions, or promotion opportunities

Exude HC Specific Work:

Documents all customer interactions and transactions, recording details of inquiries, complaints, and comments, as well as actions taken in systems of record

Attends relevant staff meetings to promote communication and execution of goals

Participates in relevant workshops as necessary to maintain professional knowledge

Completes special projects specific to the function of the department/team or as needed for the department

Other duties as assigned within the scope of position expectations

Qualifications

Required/Preferred Experience:

Must be local to Philadelphia area and willing to work on client site as needed

At least 5 years of previous experience working as an HR Generalist and/or in HR consulting

Bachelor’s degree OR equivalent work experience or combination of education and experience

Working understanding of current HR generalist practices, employment law, compliance, etc.

Identifying complex problems and using logic/reasoning to identify options/solutions to situation

Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and effective time management

Adheres to all applicable confidentiality and data security guidelines; appropriately manages sensitive information

Effective ability to make appropriate independent decisions and understand when to consult with others

Maintains current knowledge of employment laws/guidelines (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, HIPAA, etc.)

Ability to use basic computer applications (MS Office, HRIS, client management/billing systems)

Excellent communication skills including the ability to develop productive working relationships with others

Ability to multitask when faced with competing demands and shift gears quickly to provide support when needed

Exceptional client service skills and a proven ability to work professionally and effectively in a fast-paced environment

Ability to be flexible with job duties and scope of work

Ability to have fun at work, help teammates feel good about themselves, and find ways to make others smile
