JOB TITLE: Human Resources Assistant

LOCATION: Lenexa, Kansas OR Parsons, Kansas
REPORTS TO: Human Resources Manager

Position Summary
The Human Resources Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the human resources department and the overall organization. This position primarily focuses on administrative tasks related to employee records, recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, payroll, and other HR functions. The Human Resources Assistant works closely with management and employees to ensure smooth HR operations and a positive employee experience.
Duties/Responsibilities

Employee Records Management
  • Assist in the preparation of HR reports and metrics.
  • Process new hires, transfers, promotions, and terminations in the HRIS (Human Resources Information System).
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, including personal information, employment contracts, and performance evaluations.
Recruitment And Onboarding
  • Assist in conducting new employee orientations and facilitate the onboarding process.
  • Coordinate job postings on various platforms and assist in screening resumes and applications.
  • Prepare offer letters, employment contracts, and new hire documentation.
Benefits Administration
  • Assist employees with benefits enrollment, changes, and inquiries.
  • Assist in organizing and conducting employee wellness programs and events.
  • Assist in reconciling monthly benefits statements.
  • Coordinate with benefits providers to ensure accurate and timely administration of employee benefits.
HR Policies And Compliance
  • Assist in conducting HR audits and maintaining documentation for legal and compliance purposes.
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining HR policies and procedures.
Employee Relations
  • Help maintain positive employee relations by promoting open communication and a supportive work environment.
  • Assist in addressing employee relations issues.
  • Provide general support to employees regarding HR-related inquiries and concerns.
Training And Development
  • Assist in coordinating training programs and workshops for employees.
  • Track employee training records and assist in identifying development needs.
  • Help organize employee recognition programs and events.
Payroll Administration
  • Assist with audits, preparing financial reports, and collaborating with other departments on cross-functional projects.
  • Assist in ensuring the organization's payroll processes comply with all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Assist with inputting employee information, including new hires, terminations, salary changes, and other relevant data into payroll/human resources information system (HRIS), generating reports, and troubleshooting any system-related issues.
  • Assist with processing employee payroll by collecting and verifying timekeeping information, calculating wages, salaries, deductions, and other adjustments.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Must be willing to attend seminars, webinars, conferences, and conventions as needed.
  • Ability to function effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced environment with competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to work in both a team atmosphere and as a self-starter.
  • Must be able to work under minimal supervision and take a high level or initiative.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Education And Experience
Minimum Requirements:
  • 1 year experience in an administrative assistant role.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred
  • 1-2 years prior experience in a Human Resources administrative role.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiar working with various systems (HRIS, payroll, ATS, ERP).
  • Associate's in Human Resources or a related field.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED WORK HOURS
This is a full-time, exempt position. Hours are flexible but should follow a set schedule as much as possible. Must be willing to work overtime as job duties demand.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
The performance of this position requires exposure to the manufacturing areas, which may require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and safety footwear.

  • Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

  • Ability to read and write documents in the English language.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
TRAVEL
25% - 50%overnight travel between plant locations is required.
