Job Description
General Information & Responsibilities


The Human Resource System Administrator provides technical support and leadership for the Human Resources (HR) related modules of the College’s ERP system as well as other databases and computer systems utilized by HR; produces Human Resources and personnel-related reports; provides staff training; coordinates programming needs to ITS; accepts responsibilities as a member of the HR team; serves in an advisory and leadership role for all initiatives pertaining to HR related systems.

Description Of Essential Duties


  • Stays up to date on software new releases and proactively plans and performs evaluation and testing in coordination with ITS department.
  • Commitment to and thorough understanding of continuous quality improvement.
  • Keeps informed through training and other activities of developments, techniques, and practices related to system administration.
  • Updates data in Salary Planner annually for budget development.
  • Responsible for analyzing data and informing the Director of HR of variations in the data so that the Department can take action when needed.
  • Responsible for technical support, maintenance, and running processes of FLAC module in Banner.
  • Analyzes and maintains a working knowledge of College ERP system, including integration with other college systems; performs upgrades, recommends improvements, documents daily, weekly, and other tasks and troubleshooting documentation.
  • Pulls data for state and other compliance reporting and in some cases coordinates the gathering of data.
  • Serves as system administrator for Human Resources.
  • Researches and/or analyzes and recommends new technology and/or changes to the HR modules as well as other databases and computer systems utilized by HR; makes recommendations; maintains and supports system integrity, consistency, and security, implements procedural changes to leverage existing functionality while minimizing software customizations.
  • Update and maintain routing queues for HR systems.
  • Maintains, documents, and monitors security, working with IT to resolve issues.
  • Analyzes data and creates reports for all Contract Negotiations.
  • Monitors HR computer systems’ day-to-day performance and has daily oversight. Identifies system errors and troubleshooting resolutions with the vendor and the ITS department.
  • Responsible for project management of all HR related system installations and modifications.
  • Controls and maintains access to HR systems security permissions
  • Serves as the Human Resources liaison to departments for data -related processes with other departments and works collaboratively with the Business Support Team (Banner Support Team).


Description Of Other Duties


  • Assists staff in the administration of local, state, and federal requirements and College policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Collaborates with Payroll and Finance in business process analysis and solution development, as directed.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for working with ITS on maintenance and administration of system security.
  • Researches and keeps abreast of new Human Resource technology, which would improve or automate Human Resources processes.

Principal Working Relationships


  • Works collaboratively with payroll and finance to ensure workflow between HRIS and payroll/finance systems.
  • Works directly with the Director of Human Resources and Senior ERP systems Administrator. Works cooperatively with all Human Resources Department staff.
  • Works cooperatively with Planning and Institutional Effectiveness (PIE) and all other college employees, unions, software vendors, government agencies, and other third parties.
  • Works cooperatively with ITS staff and other system administrators and coordinators.


Education & Experience


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:(To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.)


  • Experience with SQL, Oracle, and/or Argos preferred or ability to obtain coursework and/or training to learn these applications within 9 months.
  • Demonstrated analytical ability required.
  • Knowledge of Human Resources practices preferred, especially in a unionized environment.
  • Experience working with databases and report writers required or ability to obtain coursework and/or training to learn and apply knowledge to essential duties within 9 months.
  • ERP, HRIS, and/or Ellucian Banner experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs required.
