Position Summary


This is a project position with an expected end date of 12/27/2024, which will provide human resources support for UW-River Falls and UW-Stout. Position is responsible for creating and maintaining human resources (HR) records, coordinating logistics for one or many HR functions, disseminating HR communications, and processing various HR specific transactions to ensure compliance with established rules and regulations.


Responsibilities


  • Oversees records management, e-file documents, and manages e-personnel file. Maintains records retention in accordance with University and UW System records management timelines.
  • Schedules logistics and secures resources for recruitment processes, onboarding activities, or other HR related activities.
  • Manages the dissemination of HR related communications to various audiences under the direction of leadership.
  • Creates and maintains various HR specific reports, databases, and/or records to ensure compliance with established policies, procedures, and legal rules and regulations.
  • Enters, reviews, and processes HR transactions according to established policies and procedures. Prepares employment documents and processes change forms.
  • Serves as a point of contact to employees, managers, and internal and external stakeholders. Responds to inquiries and escalates more complex issues to the appropriate authorities.
  • Audits and tracks compliance for various HR functions such as performance evaluations, onboarding, off boarding, criminal background checks, and credentialing.


Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, and personnel information systems.
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Proficient in the use of word processing (preferably MS Word), spreadsheets (MS Excel), database (preferably MS Access), e-mail, Internet and enterprise resource information systems such as Oracle/PeopleSoft.
  • Ability to effectively manage one’s own time and the time of others.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality integral to human resources practices; use discretion in responding to confidential matters.
  • Ability to work independently, plan and organize complex tasks, problem solve, establish priorities and complete multiple tasks in stressful conditions under strict timelines.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts and foster teamwork.
  • Effective organizational and task prioritization skills.
  • Ability to perform conflict resolution and ability to deal with difficult and sensitive situations in a positive manner.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to perform with a high-level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service. This includes customer needs assessment and meeting quality standards.


VALUED BUT NOT REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :
  • Experience in higher education and/or public service.
  • Professional in Human Resources or SHRM certification.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Human Resources.
  • Two years’ work experience in Human Resources.
