- Oversees records management, e-file documents, and manages e-personnel file. Maintains records retention in accordance with University and UW System records management timelines.
- Schedules logistics and secures resources for recruitment processes, onboarding activities, or other HR related activities.
- Manages the dissemination of HR related communications to various audiences under the direction of leadership.
- Creates and maintains various HR specific reports, databases, and/or records to ensure compliance with established policies, procedures, and legal rules and regulations.
- Enters, reviews, and processes HR transactions according to established policies and procedures. Prepares employment documents and processes change forms.
- Serves as a point of contact to employees, managers, and internal and external stakeholders. Responds to inquiries and escalates more complex issues to the appropriate authorities.
- Audits and tracks compliance for various HR functions such as performance evaluations, onboarding, off boarding, criminal background checks, and credentialing.
- Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, and personnel information systems.
- Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
- Proficient in the use of word processing (preferably MS Word), spreadsheets (MS Excel), database (preferably MS Access), e-mail, Internet and enterprise resource information systems such as Oracle/PeopleSoft.
- Ability to effectively manage one’s own time and the time of others.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality integral to human resources practices; use discretion in responding to confidential matters.
- Ability to work independently, plan and organize complex tasks, problem solve, establish priorities and complete multiple tasks in stressful conditions under strict timelines.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts and foster teamwork.
- Effective organizational and task prioritization skills.
- Ability to perform conflict resolution and ability to deal with difficult and sensitive situations in a positive manner.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to perform with a high-level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service. This includes customer needs assessment and meeting quality standards.
- Experience in higher education and/or public service.
- Professional in Human Resources or SHRM certification.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or Human Resources.
- Two years’ work experience in Human Resources.
