What you will do:
The primary purpose of this position to provide administrative and back up support to recruitment and the training and development specialist. This position will also support DELC payroll functions and service as a backup performing payroll duties in the absence of the Payroll Administrator. This position is responsible for providing confidential clerical and technical support to the Human Resource Team. This position contributes to the successful onboarding and off-boarding experiences for all employees by guiding and supporting employees through required processes.

What we are looking for:
  • Three years progressively responsible administrative, clerical or record-keeping support experience
  • Two years of human resources clerical-support experience directly assisting human resources professionals in the administrative functions of a human resources program; OR
College-level course work may substitute for the general experience requirement based on 45-quarter units per year.
The State Certified Human Resources Professional (SCHRP) certification, awarded by the Oregon Chief Human Resources Office, substitutes for six months of human resource professional-level experience.
In addition, we are looking for applicants that have the following Desired Attributes:
  • Commitment to valuing diversity and promoting inclusion
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Preference may be given to applicants working with a Human Resource Information System (HRIS)
  • Experience working with confidential information such as: birth dates, social security numbers, employee pay
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience assisting customers in the interpretation of laws, rules or policies
  • Preference may be given to applicants who have an understanding or have helped with payroll processing
  • Experience in making sound well-informed and objective decisions. Has the ability to perceive the impact and implication of decisions and commits to action in accomplishing agency goals with a high attention to detail
  • Flexible, able to adapt to rapidly changing and at times non-routine work, and prioritize projects while meeting critical deadlines
