Job Description
Help Desk / Field Tech $18-24/hr.
Field Techs are strong in all the most common and popular networking technologies. In addition to strong technical aptitudes, backed by at least 1 year of in the trenches experience, this person is a good communicator and a person who can manage well when the client is in a pickle and really needs strong guidance. The work is everything from fixing a printing issue, to documenting a network, to replacing switches to maintaing off-site backs and helping with a disaster-recovery plan to an improntu Nerf-gun war in the office. No two days are the same.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Ability to provide accurate time estimates for how long a task will take
  • Backup Maintenance
  • Enjoys helping people to the extent that no problem is considered mundane, no matter how simple the solution
  • Configuration of standard POP, SMTP & Exchange clients including Outlook
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies through the use of self-study materials and intuition
  • Configure file, print and remote access services
  • Understanding of and ability to install, configure and test workstation hardware including video cards, NICs, sound cards, hard drives, and PDAs
  • Ability and willingness to recognize when it is necessary to ask for technical expertise from others without unnecessarily burdening other team members
  • Documentation of Client Networks and procedures
  • Administration, including add/remove users and groups, configure file permissions, check event logs, configure and restore from backup
  • Ability to articulate technical information clearly and simply to non-technical people
  • Is self-motivated and can be self-directed when necessary
  • Ability to deal effectively with stressful situations
  • Installation, configuration, troubleshooting and customization of MS Office Suite applications per customer's preferences
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Experience with routers and firewalls
  • Working Knowledge of Wireless Technologies
  • Understanding of relationship between switches, hubs, patch panels and connecting nodes to a network
  • Working Knowledge of Non Cisco Firewall Technologies - SonicWALL, Linksys, NetGear
  • Understanding of TCP/IP and troubleshooting Internet connectivity
  • Experience with Terminal Services
  • Understanding of DNS services
  • Experience required with Windows desktop operating systems
Credentials and Experience:
  • Has at least one certification. The following certifications are preferred: MCITP, MCP, CCNA/CCDA/CCNP, Project+, Network+,
  • No relocation incentives will be given.
  • Minimum 1 year experience - Server Hardware Technologies (CPU/RAID/SCSI) Support
  • Minimum 1 year experience - Mobile Messaging Technologies
  • Minimum 1 year experience – Cisco Switching, VLAN, Routing, Firewalling Support
  • Must pass Background check, driving background check, and drug test.
  • Consistently receives good client feedback
  • Minimum 1 year experience - Data Backup and Recovery Support, Corporate Antivirus Support, VPN Connectivity Support
