What we're looking for
As a Collections Outreach Specialist in the Accounts Receivable department, you will be responsible for supporting the Collection Specialist in charge of customer offboarding/contract terminations, taking ownership of AR balances, and performing collection outreach.
What you'll do
- Help to determine which balances are collectable which drives the forecast.
- Other duties, as assigned.
- Perform write offs for bad debt according to policy
- Perform outreach to customers and document collection attempts
- Identify disputes, issues, and opportunities and partner with the Operations team for appropriate involvement and resolution.
- This role will make decisions or exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance: including write offs and terminations.
- Perform data entry for terminating contracts and other updates
- Respond to owner inquiries and payment requests via email and phone
- Reconcile statements and research/verify owner balances
- Serve as the company's Collections Outreach subject matter expert across the organization, informing stakeholders of trends and risks.
- Forecast collection targets and provide tracking of the team's progress.
- Interact with the bank to send payment requests
Skills you'll need
- Technical computer skills on all forms of hardware - laptops, tablets, and mobile devices.
- Reliable internet connection, must meet a minimum of 50 mbps
- 1-3 years relevant AR, Collections or similar experience; hospitality industry preferred
- Problem solving and negotiation skills
- Highly responsive and reliable
- Strong knowledge of collections and accounts receivable process
- Proficiency with Excel and Google apps for business
- Highly organized, detail oriented, and thorough
- Excellent time management skills
- Work effectively both independently and as a member of the team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to interact at all levels of the organization
- Strong business acumen and understanding of upstream and downstream impacts
- Ability to change activity frequently and cope with interruptions
- Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field or experience equivalent
- Ability to work within deadlines and operate effectively in a matrixed organization
- Ability to work well under pressure in an agile, face-paced environment
- Ability to analyze data for complex situations
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Good understanding of virtual meeting platforms (Hangouts, Slack, Zoom, Huddle)
- Professional communication in email, phone calls, video calls, and texts
